i was more so mad that they kept trying to convert them by running straight up the middle haha. Failing *one* conversion that way is one thing - sometimes the obvious call is the best call, and sometimes the obvious call gets stuffed. But definitely don’t do it twice in a row lol. Even if HB Dive worked the first time, you should still mix it up for the next 2 PT conversion cause defenses are gonna look for it the second time and look for any excuse to make it backfire.

Going for the 2 PT at the end of the game, is a philosophy I support. But doing that correctly, involves pulling one of your best misdirection or stretch/toss running plays… or one of your best “isolate one WR” plays. It takes specific preparation for that scenario - designing specific plays with a high success rate on the goal line, that you practice every week and keep secret and try not to reveal on tape beforehand. I would entirely avoid calling HB dive or HB slam etc in that situation unless 1) the rest of the game’s play calling was so ridiculous that a simple call could catch them off guard 2) If I was really playing a team with a DL that’s shitty at run defense and that’s their main vulnerability.

But failing to convert 3 times because you can’t be creative is just a waste of being aggressive hahaha. Then it’s like “alright man don’t get cute if you aren’t gonna be smart about it” lol

 

How are the Texans eliminated from playoff contention but not the Jags with the same record?

 

Yeah idk we definitely both should be?? Considering the Jags and Texans both have both wins against AFC opponents and the Texans own the head to head record. Maybe it’s strength of schedule?
