I had a response written up, but I don’t want Dustin to have to actually moderate while on vacation so I’ll shorten it to just this and move on:

1) You post very very very often about how the refs are screwing the Jags, and how if not for the refs the Jags would be better/have more wins/have more success etc. You occasionally couch it in a bigger topic of small market teams, you often don’t, both to me are nonsense but whatever.

2) Again, I feel I’m very consistent in terms of making fun/getting annoyed by ref whining. The difference is when others do it, or I give Josh, Murph, Drew, Matt, Grant etc etc etc a hard time it doesn’t turn into a day long “let’s learn about cognitive dissonance” adventure.

3) I think it’s super fucking weird to decide for me what I do and don’t find annoying, let alone talking about it like I’m not even here. I think it’s even weirder to pretend like I haven’t given you multiple reasons that I, at times, find your posting habits annoying, and to instead pretend that it’s just because we haven’t played PlayStation together.

I’m going to bed.

I shortened my response as well cause while the original was patient and measured it was a lot lol. Hope this is short enough to be worth reading.

1) how would you know if that’s changed? You’ve had me blocked most the season lol. I acknowledge I was VERY annoying that day, but I actually have since not complained much about the refs the majority of that time - if anything the Jags having 3 bad L’s recently humbled me on that point lol. The few bad ref posts I’ve made since have largely been about other teams’ games. I did go hard in the paint for years on Myles Jack and that’s fair if that still influences how you view my opinions of refs today when I had another long annoying tangent about the Travis Hunter call this year. I’ll take accountability for those.

2) I’m not upset because you gave me a hard time about the ref thing. I’m upset because once people decided they were upset about the ref complaining it became a bad faith argument, where nothing I say to explain myself matters, and people are just gonna respond to what they assume I’m saying, instead of reading to see if that assumption is correct. That’s the part. And that wasn’t even just you.

3) I apologize for speaking for you, I shouldn’t have done that. I just wonder if my personality just doesn’t translate at all to forums, cause things don’t go like this in any of my other social circles, and the posters who know me in person seem to kinda get it more and not take my posts sideways the way a few of the other regulars tend to. Sometimes I feel like we’d all like each other better in person lmao

 

let me try to clarify what you mean - are you suggesting you don’t think having a commercial every time there’s a change of possession is somewhat arbitrary? When I go to games it is so clear they’re trying to kill extra time during commercial breaks with the cheerleaders and the corny fan engagement and the corny mini games etc. I feel like that’s just artificial time being added between every drive and it wouldn’t make a difference at all if they repurposed some of those commercial breaks to other times, so that the few times a penalty needs a second look, the audience is not sitting thru more replays and a longer game.

but I also get you and Dave and Dustin’s point that not everyone wants that, and some people actually would take the trade off of worse reffing if it means we’re keeping the game going instead of stopping plays to look at shit. That’s fully valid. If it was more of a rare occurrence I’d be on y’all’s side, but it’s too common and I was just tryna think outside the box about how to address it.

 

I'd like to state on official record that i'm tired of ref complaining no matter who does it. Its for dorks only.

i'm going against my better judgement here in actively engaging, but i really think you need a break from watching football, or at least posting during it. most of your worst moments lately come on sundays or mondays when youre trying *desperately* to get very irrational and insane points across and then further doubling down on them and getting more and more frustrated when people A. simply don't agree with you or, B. do not want to hear it again from you or, C. both A & B.

i wish you'd read the room one time and realize when what youre trying to do, however right you think you are, is just not only not working, but actively working against you. instead of desperately needing to be right and be the smartest guy in the thread every single time, try self awareness one time.

 

I thought Campbell was done for the season when it happened haha
