The effects do not last as long, the strongest effect of the high is within 30-45 minutes (I’ll be down by the end of the game) unlike alcohol which your liver can only process one drink an hour no matter how much you consume

and eating a bunch of weed to reduce pain or to aid sleep is different from smoking a smaller amount of weed for entertainment.
