early career McNabb wasn’t Mahomes good, but he was a top QB in the game at the time and had absolute trash WRs haha. Reid loves it! It’s his thing!

also this caused me to look up his stats and I forgot how much more of a rusher he was than Mahomes has been. I mean I knew he ran a lot, just didn’t remember it being so much more than Mahomes does.

it would just be disrespectful to Mahomes though lol. Dude reads defenses like a motherfucker and almost won the game tonight. I'd rather not risk leaving anybody wide open. Much rather put my best corner on Kelce and assign a safety for clean-up whenever he gets bullied.

 

They just looked bad most of the game. Yes they were able to make the plays when they mattered most, but some ref assists (which, tbf, went both directions this game) bailed them out and no one feels confident in their team continuing to make the right plays at the right time while playing like trash most of the rest of the game. All it takes is one game of not being able to make those plays and suddenly you’re eliminated in the NFCCG or whatever.

But also yes I think we were spoiled by them being absolutely dominant last year compared to this year so far.

Like i'd definitely get creative to stop Kelce, don't get me wrong. But I'd be more likely to move Tyson Campbell to the slot and call a lot of Robber, trusting my CB2 and CB3 to handle their shitty ass WRs, than simply leave 50% of the field open to triple or quadruple team Kelce alone

 

They absolutely doubled him at times in the games and the broadcast showed it on one play specifically

 

I would do exactly the same thing. Except I’d put an additional 3rd person on to beat Kelce’s ass on the line. Exactly 0 of the Chiefs WRs can win against man coverage, and I’m not sacking Mahomes anyway. So I’m putting the majority of my efforts into chokeslammibg Kelce at the line and then powerbombing him again at the 4th yard line.
