We all know why Danny J is still getting support and Tua isnt and it has nothing to do with their play

I understood fully that we were taking about Daniel Jones before that post and then I saw “Danny J” and I was like……… who??

    The rivalry is back on

Danny Dimes had a remarkably similar rookie season to Mac Jones’ season to date — the primary exception being that Mac Jones is completing (being schemed?) passes at a higher rate and Daniel Jones ran for more yardage (didn’t have the vision to find receivers and scrambled instead? tried to survive because the surrounding cast was real bad? a little bit of both?)

Jones then hit the largely new coaching staff in 3 straight years curse (2 OCs/1 HC, which I think would have been 3 playcallers in 3 seasons), heavily regressed off that reasonably promising first season, and now looks like a bit of a lost cause

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say “Daniel Jones stinks” and “I’d expect Daniel Jones to have developed much better had he been in New England”

Honestly that 4th quarter interception was amongst the most indefensible interceptions I feel like I can recall lol

  7. He would though. Especially considering Jones is a dualish threat.

It reminds of the mechanic in the mid-00s Madden games where, if you play a dynasty long enough, all of the legacy QBs retire and the game-created QBs are all the best in the league when they come out of college and their rating gradually gets worse over the course of the rookie contract to the point where theyre unplayable and eventually get replaced by a rookie QB again

    maybe they were onto something

speaking of Madden, I wasn’t going to use this as proof but since you brought up Madden I will lmao in the season that Jones was a rookie I would always let the CPU control all the teams and games to see what each roster looked like 5-10-15 years down the road and Jones was ALWAYS the first round rookie to get cut / never get a second contract with his drafted team (Giants) and barely ever got signed as a backup and when he did he would be cut within a year and never signed again.

No matter how many times I did this, it was always the same result. I think I had 12 different franchises going to see how different they would play out but this was always one constant - Giants would draft Jones’ replacement after three seasons, cut him after 4 and then he’d either live in free agency for a decade before disappearing or sign with like the Raiders for a year at 600K and then go back to FA for a decade lol

I think if you went top-line numbers, sure...but if you actually go game-to-game, not even remotely close. Aside from the reality that in 13 games, Daniel Jones fumbled 19 times and lost 11...while Mac Jones has 4 fumbles and 2 lost in 11 games...Daniel Jones also had an 8 sack game. As well as 5 and 6 sack games. He had 6 games with 4+ sacks, Mac Jones has 1 currently. Again, Daniel Jones wouldn't have improved because people who have been murdered by their head coach don't improve.

He had highs (the 4+ TD games), for sure, but they were against the Lions (#3 pick in 2020), WFT (#2 pick in 2020), and Jets (1-7 when they faced off)...and they lost to NY/DET and only beat WFT in OT.

Daniel Jones probably wouldnt have had as low of lows if he was in NE, but he still probably would have drug an 8-8/9-7 level team down to 5-11.

Tua would be playing for Super Bowls if the Pats somehow had him rn.
