Booger actually making a great point - it was about intent. Garrett took his helmet off and swung it at his fucking head. That’s not a football play, that’s just “I’m trying to hurt this guy.”
"People have been violent in sports before so a potentially lethal attack is fine and people are overreacting" For what its worth I dont see many Browns fans defending or justifying it at all though
That was bizarre that Pac-Man didn’t get in trouble, especially given that he had a history of being a shitty ass wannabe gangster with violent tendencies.
Yeah that was perplexing. If it happened to Cowboys era Cooper in a primetime game I'd bet he'd get a suspension. I think it just got buried
Well, you see, the guy who took a 6lb helmet and swung it violently into the skull of another human being is typically the barbaric one @tkamB. Glad I could clear that up for ya.
If it ended before the helmet swing, it would be a typical NFL scrum/fight that happens almost every week. At that point, flag both players and maybe give them fines. Once he swung that helmet, it became heinous.
For future reference in case it comes up, the one who pulls the trigger is typically considered the shooter, the one who steals from your house is typically considered the thief and the one who burns down your house is usually considered an arsonist.
Garrett could've also just thrown the helmet away and swung with his fist, which while still being a very bad thing to do wouldn't be nearly as threatening and this would be something we forgot about in a couple weeks For some reason everyone's assuming that Rudolph trying to get Garrett's helmet off means Rudolph would've swung Garrett's helmet too. Assumptions about this are stupid, we know for a fact one player did swing a helmet
*shrug* happy to reside on reasonable perspective island with my good friend Samuel L They all should be suspended a game or two, anything more than that is silly based on precedent and what happened. Excommunication and criminal charges is just laughable
I mean, you're wrong though. You're just super-duper wrong, and you look pretty stupid along the way.
It’s not reasonable to equate two players rolling around fighting with each other with one of those players swinging a weapon and slamming the other in the head.
Those people are also assuming Rudolph would have connected with Garrett's head....and they clearly did not watch the game, because if Rudolph swings his helmet, it flies out of his hands, into Denzel Ward's, and he returns it for a touchdown.
The whole notion that because something happens on a plot of grass, the rule of law gets suspended is so stupid. If someone cracks a 6lb brick over your head that's 100% a crime. But here it's just "football."
Still the funniest part of the whole thing. He's also super lucky...the more I think about it, that could have been the water bottle hitting Artest of that situation. Like, it was over at that point (even if Pouncey is still kicking), but if that shove provokes Rudolph to flip out or a Steeler from the bench to come in, we're looking at a dozen guys suspended from Week 12 minimum.
