Not entirely sure what you all are doing but the rules are fairly simple. Teams are good if they win more games than they lose (and I don’t actively hate them.) Teams are bad if they lose more games than they win (or I actively hate them.)

so can a good team never lose a game to a bad team and can a bad team never win a game against a good team?

By my rules, a good team can lose to a bad team and remain a good team if they have still won more games than they’ve lost, or they don’t do something to make me actively hate them.

I’m also fine if the rule of thumb is a good team is anyone who drinks bud light. Idgaf. Just anything is better than whining about strength of schedule and circumcising the mosquito over quality of wins. They won! Shut upppp lol

Tell me what I missed Moderator

I think the discussion was a lot more tactical than "was the team they were playing good" and had to do a lot with playstyle and the like. Look, I know there's a tendency for discussion to be shallow, discussing the same 1-2 stupid points, things we've seen before, but I don't think that's what happened here at all and I think you're being incredibly dismissive to call it just that. And after the whole "but you're allowed to talk football!!!" thing from the conversation the other day hearing that we need to shut up about...talking about the football playing feels silly.

I was catching up on multiple pages and buzzing past the 76th iteration of “who have they beat” though and I’m just over that talking point. Apologies for being a stinker though.

I’ll tell you this though, Dustin used his dad voice on me and I did not care for it. I’m gonna just go to my room for a bit and think about some things.

    The rivalry is back on

I don’t think I’m quoting the right Randall post, but now that I’m back to not wanting to work, coming back to address this with too long of a post.

There has not been a game this season where someone has stopped both the Colts’ run game and the play-action pass game when there was a legitimate threat of leaning on the run game. Like, to the point of having historically good points per drive going into last week’s game.

The nuance to date is more - “the play-action pass game had been SO successful so far, in part because they’ve been in positive and neutral game scripts for a good part of the early portions of their games and teams need to simultaneously respect the run and pass options. What happens when they're not in a positive or neutral game script?”

Which, on the one hand, is a valid concern and the Pittsburgh game (which they still somehow only lost by 7 even after 6 turnovers!) was not a good or even okay outcome, but if Daniel Jones can even be a league average QB and not commit a career high of turnovers attributed to him when that inevitably happens again, shouldn’t tank their season too much in the hopefully rare instances where it does happen for the rest of the season

On the other hand, it doesn’t really change my opinion about them as a playoff contender - if they get down by 3+ scores in a playoff game, the season’s probably over anyways. That’s one of the benefits of having a super human QB that this team does not have. But, a decent playoff run is almost certainly predicated on not playing your worst game or first half of football in the playoffs, so I’m more interested in - can anyone stop the Colts’ play action game and run game simultaneously in anything remotely resembling a neutral game script?
