Real talk though as a fan of the Texas Longhorns I am becoming more and more worried about our ability to produce NFL talent

I wanted to see how more of the Sark players did and like Bijan has been Bijan and Worthy has been pretty good (not sure how Banks has been) but seeing Adonai Mitchell have red flag after red flag, Duvernay disappoint, Brooks injuries, the list goes on and on, is a bummer

i do think a lot of longhorns haven't panned out but it is funny to post that coming off a year with the program's largest draft class ever

The timing of it is very funny just because everyone ended up leaving at once, but it's something I've kept my eye on for a while just to see, and when the issues are MASSIVE mental lapses like Mitchell's that's what really incites the worry. Then wondering things like "How many opportunities is Golden gonna get? Is this gonna happen with him too?" and just generally feeling like the production of a lot of these players are not matching the hype (except Bijan)

Our top WR track records specifically have not been great outside of Worthy. CoJo and LJ have not done anything. Duvernay was touted as a steal and is sometimes a good returner. Mitchell is doing exactly what's detailed here. Whittington is a role player who I'll say hasn't been too bad as a result. Worthy is doing fine but not nearly up to projections with his speed and fit. Bond is a rapist but also a liability at WR. And Golden is TBD

golden feels like a different situation, that's just a stacked room. but yeah i agree.

Yeah I think if anyone has a chance it's Golden, and if Golden busts when he's given the chances that's when the alarms start sounding. I'm hoping he doesn't

IMO they're kicking the piss out of teams that can’t stop Jonathan Taylor, which is just how football works. The teams that have played good enough defense to put up resistance to his rushing attack are the teams that beat them so far - his combined rushing totals in 2 L’s vs PIT and LAR is 100ish yards and 0 TDS - and obviously the bad teams they’ve beaten badly got the ball ran down their throats.

It’s simpler than people are making it out to be - Colts defense is okay but not great (Sauce moves the needle some but not a LOT). when JT runs they stay fresh and Daniel Jones plays amazing cause the defensive attention isn’t on him and the opposing team gets tired. When JT can’t run Daniel and the defense start to look suspect. We’ll see how the teams ahead of you on the schedule perform in the stopping the run category - but I don’t see the Colts being nearly as dangerous against a good run defense that doesn’t allow JT to have 100 yards and 3 TDs for breakfast lol.

That makes me think of some of those Cowboys teams of the past 10ish years

When they establish a lead they hang onto it 0 problem because Zeke eats

When they can't establish the lead to start it gets messier

Beating Philly is better than any of the Colts wins.

I don't think that makes them "not as good" though it just is a fact of the plays

Well the Jaguars beat the Colts in Jacksonville every single year for one, even if we suck and they’re good lol

I do think it's funny that there was the conversation of "are the Jaguars actually good or not" and it ended with joking statements of "well no one is good actually" and now that we've got teams with good records Jags fans are like "well THOSE teams aren't good though" when one is a rival

(Although tbf Pats have been excluded from that conversation)

IMO this is the part other people are biased by. Sure the Broncos are boring cause their offense is lame and run by a dink and dunk specialist. We’ve seen worse offenses than the Denver Broncos be a formidable opponent off of defense and controlling the clock alone though. I don’t think it’s correct to not give an 8-2 team credit that HAS had a slightly harder schedule than the Colts just cause they’re not beating the pants off anybody. They are keeping games close and winning almost all those close games and that is a whole other way to be a solid football team.

I think how well they run the ball against much better defenses down the stretch is the litmus test for how good they are. Right now my answer is “idk - they’re good for sure but probably not as good as they’ve been looking against Tennessee, the Raiders, the Cardinals etc”

If the litmus test is "is Jonathan Taylor able to play good" then yes I think they are good tbh

At least in regards to what should be expected to get wins

But like how dominant will their run game be in games against much better teams? I wouldn’t ask “is Jonathan Taylor good?” I’m saying “can good teams still hold him in check, and how good is the Colts offense at responding when they have to do something else to win”

And this is where it becomes like...if the question is "what do they do if 50% of a NFL offense doesn't work for them" then that is more saying that the other team is good too than saying the Colts aren't actually good

Every team has flaws, some more than others. It's a game of inches and if your demand for a team to be "good" is to be dominant in every aspect then this is the wrong sport to watch tbh

    The rivalry is back on

I fundamentally disagree with this; winning close games in the past is not very predictive of winning close games in the future

(specifically in the context of you labeling a team a paper tiger. I feel like this definition above, especially against teams like the Raiders, Giants, and Jets, is a top thing to look for when you’re diagnosing which teams with a good record aren’t as good as their record suggests

more generally speaking, a win is a win and they all count the same in the standings)
