jags have 4th lowest sack percentage and 12th lowest INT percentage in the league with Trevor starting every game

And the left side of our line + his receivers and tight ends are below average / been awful in some games, to boot. He’s being asked to throw a lot and is keeping it clean in most games. He’s also been asked to throw downfield and run more lately and has actually seemed to get more comfortable with that / get into a rhythm better with the training wheels off

jags as a team are a big fat disappointment in terms of game narratives and flow, we make back breaking mistakes at awful times (Trevor included). But underneath that obvious storyline is the fact he actually is outperforming every other QB drafted since 2019 except Joe Burrow, in a very patchy and un-scary offense

 

So basically if we wanted better than Trevor then the old staff should’ve drafted Lamar in 2018 (bad miss) instead of sticking with Bortles, or not signed Nick Foles (another bad miss) in 2019 and tanked that year instead for Burrow, both of which I wanted at the time

considering we didn’t, (logical) Jags fans should find silver lining in this season that we might have got it right this time and did the best possible thing, and that year 2 is a departure from a horrid year 1. This is easily the best year 2 we’ve gotten out of any quarterback since Mark Brunell in 1996. (Ironically that team started 3-6 and made the playoffs lol)

In conclusion, lemme be happy bout my new QB on a team that usually can’t even spell “quarterback”. Yeah he made a FEW ugly picks this season (two of them late game deep bombs trying not to lose)… and had one game of fumble issues in the rain.. He still is literally already better than Gabbert, Bortles, Henne, Minshew, or Leftwich ever was over a 10 game stretch. Only Garrard and Brunell have even played decent starting QB football for us in 28 years. Jags have been down BAD at QB for most of my life & we needed / deserved Trev.

 

Lawrence has been decent this year but put some respect on my man Leftwich

 

He was only ever good for a couple games at a time. Could never put it all together and stay hot. He peaked at Marshall University before he broke the same ankle that kept setting back his development later. I think he could’ve been an okay franchise QB if 1) he stayed healthy 2) Jimmy Smith got to play till 38-39 instead of retiring as a still-dominant 35 year old WR1 due to legal incidents with cocaine

 

The Jaguars downfall can be traced back to Garrard getting shuffled aside for Blaine Feaking Gabbert less than three months after the Gus Johnson hail mary game.

 

In one hand, yeah. He wasn’t irreplacable but the draft class we chose to replace him was horrible after Cam at pick 1

On the other hand that was NOT Shack Harris’s only horrible call as a GM. He basically gutted our whole team and replaced it with fuckin busts and scrubs and poor scheme fits. And Dave Caldwell + Gus Bradley were NOT skilled enough or qualified to clean a whole roster-reset-while-in-cap-hell mess. Harris in general cursed our team for a decade

 

Imagine the opposite problem as Mickey Loomis:

a poor talent evaluator who is cheap with big talent but can’t stop handing out early draft picks and starter contracts to guys who are backup level

 

Yeah, you're kind of fucked beyond the QB when the only Pro Bowler you've drafted in a six year span is a punter.
