I just feel like we’re always doing this cycle of “man the Jags might be good this year now that they got rid of that idiot coach” and then two years later jags fans are pleading to get rid of their new idiot coach.

It’s true but that’s how it goes for 1/3 of NFL teams year to year who are bad. It’s all you got as a fan is hope “this time we got it right.” We’re 2 more bad seasons away from being there Dave lol

I am more optimistic about Coen than the last 2 idiot Jags coaches.

Meyer was Mayo level bad (or worse?) and Pederson was good for a year but it flamed out as predictable as it was with the Eagles and they held onto him a year too long. It’s not just the new HC, canning Baalke is just as huge.

Who the hell knows. They’ll win the south.

I am optimistic on patriots this year competing for a wild card spot.

However, still very concerned on their o-line, their WR core, and their best player not practicing in a month has me a wee bit worried for week 1

Jets will be bad bad, but it could be fun. Still wish they’d go for an offensive minded HC just once

Panthers roster overall still not that great though. On paper we should outclass them

I’m not saying it’s gonna be a blow out but I am saying we should have our shit together more than they do and be more consistent and make less mistakes

  8. Think Steelers beat the jets assuming MetLife doesn’t take Rodgers knee again

I am adamantly, firmly in belief the Jags were a C-plus grade roster (that has since improved considerably to like a B or B-plus) with F grade coaching last year, not the other way around

if Liam Coen is good they’ll come out the gate playing like they should and maybe not beating really good teams but definitely doing well against other teams that were bad last year

I’ve seen several Jags teams that were just bad / didn’t have enough talent to compete before, the last 23 games were NOT that lol

it was horrible gameflow and 0 element of surprise on either side of the ball quickly digging Trevor Lawrence into a hole because teams had carte Blanche to be aggressive early on, and then asking him to be Superman behind an awful line (which again, has improved dramatically this offseason). Yeah he regressed and started making dumb mistakes; and seeing ghosts in the pocket from the constant blitzing, and reaching for low percentage passes in desperate situations, when he used to not make those mistakes - but who wouldn’t under those conditions?

I disagree. We are weak at maybe two starting positions now. We could use more depth in the trenches for injury replacement, and another great WR or CB depending on where we use Hunter more, but generally aside from our RBs and S there’s plenty of proven talent everywhere else

and I trust Coen to get the most out of our RBs in a committee rushing approach after what he did in Tampa, and I also trust that with 5 safeties that all have potential and high athleticism we’ll find 2 that can really develop and be consistent/reliable

The difference being Jags fans seem truly unwilling to just say “yep, team stinks.” It’s always the idiot coach holding back what otherwise would be a good team. Trevor Lawrence is just one good coach away from finally reaching his potential as opposed to “maybe he was just a bit overhyped”

It definitely wouldn’t be the first time a QB drafted early took years to catch on cause his first couple coaching staffs were dumb as fuck. Baker Mayfield stands out. Matt Stafford underperformed for years in Detroit even though everyone could tell he was really good.

  18. Jags are just fighting with the Steelers and other mediocre teams for the privilege of losing to the ravens or chiefs in the playoffs

Lawrence is going into year 5, man lol I mean, how many QBs are there that didnt have a 'breakout' year until year 5 or beyond?

its much more likely that he "is what he is" then he suddenly turns into the player he was drafted to be. I think he just will be the ~12th-16th best QB in the league, which is fine, but yeah.
