I didn’t see the injury so can’t really speak on it, was just commenting on the conditions themselves

that barnwell tweet is weird. i find it hard to believe the brand new, state of the art tottenham stadium has turf that much worse than any given nfl stadium, if at all. you can say that soccer stadiums maintain their turf differently than football stadiums without being a geek about it.

I spent too much time being pissy last night about players being doo doo and having flashbacks to Carson Wentz and the Eagles circa 2018-2020 so I’m going to take this time to be POSITIVE:

Saquon Barkley - Insane debut. I hope he can maintain that level of juice throughout the season (and the contract). For now though, I couldn’t be more excited for him to be a part of the squad. His receiving touchdown will be etched into my brain forever.

AJ Brown - Grown ass man right there. Get that man the ball as much as possible. I still can’t believe he’s an Eagle :’)

DeVonta Smith - Absolutely clutch. Dude quietly had nearly 100 yards. Bananas. He and Brown are the second best WR duo in the league in my eyes.

Nakobe Dean - I’m not going to get too carried away here, but I was pleasantly surprised by Dean. He looked good coming downhill against the run, but giving up the reception to Tucker Kraft was tough. This lines up with what I heard all offseason about him looking good coming downhill, but poor in coverage.

Zack Baun - Another linebacker I was pleasantly surprised by. Baun was everywhere and compiled 15 tackles (11 solo), 1 TFL, 2 QB hits, and 2 sacks. I’m not reading anything into that last sack against Willis, but maybe this guy who Fangio seemingly hand-picked for his scheme will be legit. Here’s hoping.

Quinyon Mitchell - Dude looks so legit. I hope he continues this level of play, but last night was such an encouraging sign. Sticky in coverage, good recovery speed, ability to make plays on the ball. He looks like he belongs and this defense needs him.

Reed Blankenship - Absolutely clutch INT last night. You love to see it. I always underrate this guy and I hope he can really carve out a reputation for himself in the league as a playmaker. Would be much-needed for this defense.

i’d imagine there were nearly as many positives to take away from the packers but we won’t see any posts like that about them wonder why

Baun is such a great fit for Fangio

  11. Yeah the field probably didn’t directly relate to the injury - he got high-lowed somewhat (not dirty)

I don’t know if it was because of Love, the Packers OL, the Eagles pass rush, or a combination of all three, but I thought it was notable that Love was barely sacked this game. Dude was having his way with the Eagles’ defense for the most part

  13. The only takeaway is the packers are fucked if Love is out 3+ weeks

  14. I felt like love’s pocket was collapsing almost immediately and was a big reason why they had zero red zone success

It’s wild because Baun said in his introductory press conference that he was excited to play edge rusher here and rush the passer. Then, in Fangio’s introductory press conference, Baun was the first player he mentioned when asked about the linebackers, specifically the inside linebackers

I hope he can be good, or at least solid. Last night was a good start!

Doubs continued to improve, Jacobs was pretty great in his debut, walker and nixon continue to be beasts

Eagles defense that first quarter was nuts. Probably the biggest reason the game turned out the way it did

  19. See I think Quay Walker has zero football IQ and makes just as many dumb plays as good ones

Nixon returning that last kickoff 8 yards deep and wasting time negates any positive stuff he may have done

Jacobs was better in the second half mainly because of two big runs but him and/or the run blocking inside the 10 was dismal

I was very underwhelmed by Josh Jacobs until the red sea parted for him in the second half of the game

Should have kept Aaron Jones for the vibes instead of signing Jacobs while he was still on the roster and cutting him later in the day or the next day like they did

Massive hit on AJ Brown, who didn’t even have the ball on the play lol

It was a big hit though
