It’s a Baltimore thing for me tbh (compared to other places I’ve lived). There are bars, clubs, sports bars, dive bars etc but my neighborhood of Baltimore *specifically* has pubs. Not really sure how to explain it, it’s a vibe thing
The type of food they serve, the not quite dive bar but definitely not party bar vibe, the amount of regulars and the way the bar community operates, the fact they do have all the sports but people also come just for the grub and to talk to strangers when there’s not even a game on, the fact that it’s perfectly normal to come only for food and not drink any alcohol… that’s a “pub” to me it’s hard to find a good pub in DC, way more party bars with expensive drinks and food and loud over-produced music than pubs there, and that’s how DC sports bars are too which is why I won’t call them pubs. But they’re fuckin everywhere in south Baltimore
The only places with a pub vibe in DC are actually novelty Irish Pubs haha. Like to the point they prioritize televising soccer over other sports
true story, in like 2012 I was walking into a walmart with a buddy and (relatively) high kicked a shopping cart and tore the crotch of my shorts and had to buy a new pair when we went inside
these teams are quite a bit different than what we say in the playoffs, hoping for some spicy offense
