I don’t get why people say it’s a dumb rule. How about you don’t risk fumbling by reaching out near the goal line? There has to be some form of punishment for making a stupid mistake like that. We have so many rules that favor the offense so I don’t mind one that punishes them for making a big mistake so close the the goal line.
