Damn, a lot of great memories at that place. Including seeing Blink 182 there back in 2013. Venues in that area are dropping like flies. Rough Trade, Glasslands, Baby’s Alright and now MHOW. Real shame
Oh I thought Baby's All Right closed like a year ago. Did it not? I moved out of the city in 2023 so I may be out of touch with the area now.
A friend of mine runs a DIY space called Life World which has a bunch of great shows - comedy, music, film. They're doing this fun microbudget film series all month I'd reccomend if anyone is interested in such a thing.
Just went to nyc again to see Heathers off broadway Met cast after at stage door Loved meeting Peyton list
Visiting my partners sister. We were staying in Brooklyn for most of it but got a hotel in LES for a few nights. Overall awesome experience. Will definitely come back soon.
I’m open to suggestions! Most of my friends live in Brooklyn (Prospect/Crown Heights), but something about Astoria & Long Island City seems to call to me. Also v open to cool neighborhoods in Manhattan.
Nice, I've lived in crown heights for around 8 years or so now. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions!
Been in Astoria for over two years and I like it. LIC can be nice but would definitely suggest Astoria over it. Astoria has a much more neighborhood feel. LIC just feels like tall apartment buildings without much character. I loved Williamsburg in Brooklyn but got priced out. I would note if you move to Astoria or LIC it's going to be a pain most likely to visit your friends in prospect/crown heights without Uber which is costly. You can take the subway but if you're going out your gonna get lazy or not want to take as long because you basically need to go through Manhattan and it takes a while. I Uber to Williamsburg a lot to go to some of my old favorite places
Yeah, last time I visited I stayed in Astoria for two weeks and my Crown Heights buddy usually just met me in Manhattan. I took the bus a few times, but man how is there not a north/south train. Damn Robert Moses lol Sounds like I need to spend some time in Bushwick and Williamsburg!
A couple of years ago I visited NYC and asked for food recs here - they did not disappoint and I am still grateful. Here I am, once again, asking what are your favorite places I should try during a short visit. I missed L'Industrie Pizza last time and planned to go now. Social media is riddled with food accounts but I get overwhelmed and feel like I'd need 4 stomachs and 2 years to go to every place I've seen there lol.
Thank you! I'm staying in Long Island but my time will be spent wandering around in Manhattan/Brooklyn randomly. Or going wherever food recs take me.
The best jerk chicken i've ever had is at Peppa's on the south side of prospect park. 24h cash only spot. couple Q stops from Barclay's, near King's Theater which is a cool venue, there's a Nitehawk Cinema nearby, a few bars with jazz/weirdo avant music regularly, lots of other great food plus the park and general area is really beautiful and pleasant. Not a ton of like, formal Stuff To Do outside all that though so I would hesitate just a little to send you there without more purpose. But I've got friends right there and it's really nice
Got two tickets for The Hotelier playing Goodness at Bowery Ballroom tonight in case anyone is interested! Feel free to message me. :)
