Feel obligated to post here. Yeah. The pork roll/taylor ham debate is the most nonsensical debate ever. Central Jersey is literally purgatory.
What's up with everyone recently? I was down in Belmar at Djais a few weekends ago and mistakenly started dancing with a girl I thought I was talking with earlier in the day. Turns out it was this jacked dude's girl. Almost got my ass kicked.
Since I left Howell, I don't do the Belmar scene anymore. I usually just stuck to Boathouse. Now, whenever I head down south, I stick to Johnny Mac's, Biergarten, Bond Street, Brick Wall, or Ale House in Asbury. Everything is so close and easy to get around. Nights of shows, I'll go to Yacht Club or Watermark. Asbury.
Asbury Park. If you want to go to a jersey shore beach town that isn't every bad jersey stereotype in the world...go to asbury. they're really building it up as of late. Great place for the hipster/punk/rock/laid back crowd.
I'm gonna try and make it down the shore this summer. Make use of my Summer Friday's. I like Belmar, the beach. I don't really do the bar or club thing.
Renovated to be a 'vintage style bowling alley'. Everyone who works there is saying it won't be putting on shows and they aren't being hired back on. No more hanging with the dude from A Life Once Lost.
that's.... very sad. I don't get things like this though. Same thing with CBGB years back. These places are potential gold mines as historical landmarks, why get rid of such historic places...especially in a town like Asbury Park where it's places like that that gives the town character. REAL character too, not manufactured Williamsburg type places
Everything in Asbury is being monetized. It's depressing. They are really pushing to make it THE shore getaway. it feels really weird that it all seemed to happen to quickly. For years, people talked about how the LGBT community was coming in to make improvements. Now it is happening at an overwhelming rate and pushing a lot of people out of their homes.
Hahaha!! Time for me to come down and bougie it up with my bros!!! #NORTHJERSEY4LYFE #KINGOFTHENORTHJERSEY
Man, Asbury Lanes was the best spot around! Saw almost all my favorite bands there and could count on being there at least twice a month. So sad to hear its not coming back.
I work on the beach in Asbury, and as much as I love the boardwalk and the town, the gentrification is real. You can really tell how much more tourism there is this summer compared to last. RIP the Lanes.
i feel like there should be a balance. It's a shame that developers and local governments can't see the bigger picture...and in my eyes...the financial opportunities to leaving such landmarks open. Forget the emotional pull...there's MONEY in this kind of shit! That's more of why i'm shocked.
