After being obsessed with Love & Pain in HS, I told myself I was gonna get Love Pain tattooed across my knuckles. I don't not have knuckle tats but still love that song
Damn now that you mention it I've always thought something felt off and I think this is it. It was the cool thing at the time for all of the pop-punk bands to go "mature" and it was them following suit I still love the album though and wish they would do more stuff like it
Yea, anytime a band suddenly changes their wardrobe along with a new album it really doesn’t feel authentic.
I remember a lot of the press around the Coming Home era, and it all felt very authentic to me. The band seemed super excited about the sound and recording process. It's a shame that album wasn't better embraced by the fanbase. Revisited Not Without a Fight the other day and, while it's obviously an attempt to give the fans what they want, the fingerprints of Coming Home remain on several of those songs.
I don’t think NWAF was an attempt to give fans what they want, I think it was them going back to the kind of music they’ve always wanted to play and are still playing today. The press around CH may have felt authentic, and I’m not knocking them (you gotta do what you gotta do), but I’ve always found it very hard to believe that their style changed so drastically right as the scene was shifting, and their wardrobes and entire aesthetic just so happened to change along with it. As soon as it didn’t work they went straight back to looking and sounding like the band they’ve always been.
Another round of my least favorite music dialogue: second-guessing the motivations of musicians. ‘Coming Home’ is great, some days I think it’s my favorite. Gonna go spin.
Love Coming Home, probably my favorite NFG album. But yeah, definitely felt like they were trying to chase the high that Vindicated was riding at the time.
Yeah, at this point most people can agree Coming Out is simply a great album. Great b-sides to that one as well. I wish Over Me would've been included on the album.
I think the decision to write in a lower key so Jordan could have a bit of a calmer, less enthusiastic delivery was a good one. I mean, I love the stuff before Coming Home, but the other day I listened to Failure's Not Flattering (which I think is a great song) for the first time in a long time and I must admit his vocals got on my nerves just a bit. The way you can hear his breathing in super loud before delivering each line is a bit much.
I don't think I ever heard that song. I would love if they put out a b-sides album. Situations deserves to be back on streaming platforms! Also wondering when that acoustic album is coming. Wonder if Chad's recent health scare put a hold on an acoustic tour they may have planned to do to coincide with the album.
They are supposed to be releasing an acoustic album or EP on that label. NEVERMIND it's Revelation Records. maybe Catalyst or Coming Home finally
Can't wait. I kinda purposely said to myself I'd only get TSC last week if it was under $40 with shipping since Jason said there's colorS for Coming Home. I'm gonna be so happy to finally have the album on wax
