It's like 10 seconds shorter and there's some noticable tweaks, but it's not that much of a difference.
Going from my memory but I heard it from a Mark Hoppus interview where he was making fun of NFG by saying Jerry Finn didn't like them. I think it had to do with the band not liking how his mix of Hit Or Miss came out and Finn thought they were unprofessional.
I don’t like Finn’s mix of Hit or Miss as much as the album version, but I’ve never really been able to figure out if that’s because I’m so used to the way OG mix sounds and I’m biased because of it or because I legitimately don’t like it as much.
Have you ever heard Mark Trombino’s mixes of a couple Sugarcult songs? I believe it’s “Destination Anywhere” and “Bouncing Off the Walls,” and those are two tracks that definitely sound much different from their original album mixes. Just randomly came to mind after seeing this, ha
I forgot about those. Did Matt Wallace do the original mixes or was it one of the Lord-Alge brothers?
Tom Lord-Alge mixed (most of) PT&PL, and Wallace did Start Static. Side note: is Matt Wallace related to Andy Wallace? I swear I used to buy albums solely based on engineers because I’d see their names on all my favorite albums haha
my day today has just been singing "or is it toooOoo sooon" to myself at 15 minute intervals. Puzzles is great
I honestly don’t know. I can’t remember where I even first heard of them. Probably MySpace or something, but they may have been part of some random soundtrack/comp as well. I wanna say BOTW was remixed for Van Wilder, but not sure about DA (which I actually prefer to the album mix).
Tangent: Jerry Finn went to my high school (a bit before my time), and it's my secret mission to get a commemorative plaque made in his honor if I ever get hired to teach there.
