Found a few more interviews from the band across Slam Dunk and German tour stops. Sounds like the album will have 10 songs. 100% + 9 more
Jordan has done 10+ interviews over the last few days. Some album updates and interesting tidbits: - One song is a pure Power Pop song - One song sounds like an Earth Crisis pop song - Chad would come in studio in the morning and stay as long as he could before getting tired and they’d all review recordings in the morning and make songs tweaks - He looks at Good Charlotte brothers as super ambitious (buying AP magazine, doing their podcast, etc) while he “turns off” being a band guy at home. When he’s not with the band recording or touring, he’s not thinking about NFG. He doesn’t find the need to be grinding and pushing NFG 24/7 at this point in the bands career. ^ sad to hear that but understandable. These guys are dads now, and it’s hard to have same ambition 25+ years in
NFG/Good Charlotte was the first concert I went to without my parents, in 2003. Mxpx and the Movielife opened
Just got off a 9 hour flight to Europe so listened to more - Jordan wants to hang on tour and have a good time, he doesn’t wanna talk about band stuff with other musicians - At Rockville some younger bands on festival wanted to talk about business with them, how many tickets NFG sell, asking Jordan what venues to play if they want to “blow it out”, he’s so uninterested in these conversations and wants to be around bands that talk about real life - Jordan contributed a bunch of lyrics on this record, there’s some albums where he didn’t add any lyrics - He wishes Coming Home had different singles, specifically Oxygen as the lead and On My Mind - During Catalyst tour last year he didn’t realize how popular This Disaster and Doubt Full were. Said lots of people were singing along which was surprising - Everytime they go to Germany they play the same 500 cap rooms - never got big there and were told NFG were too punk for pop and too pop for punk scenes so never a natural fit. And the opposite in Southeast Asia, like in Manila they are hugely popular. Almost never hear Jordan talk for this long on subjects other than general “who are your influence” questions so it was nice.
so weird to me that a singer doesn't write the lyrics for his band. besides fall out boy are there other bands like that?
Yeah this is a super interesting interview. Definitely a unique perspective coming from him. Regarding the Coming Home part, I think they have said in the past that On My Mind was supposed to be the second single, but then all the issues at the label were happening (people leaving and such). I think it was even included on the packaging sticker as a single or whatnot. Not sure how Oxygen would have been though.
