Honestly, at this point I am pretty happy as long as the albums have one or two fun songs to chuck into a setlist. I pretty much exclusively see them at festivals and they’re always going to play the main 7/8 songs, and then a couple of other newer ones from recent albums. Even their weaker records have 2/3 songs each that really slap.
There are a couple songs from Resurrection I really love, but it’s mostly pretty forgettable That being said, it’s a whole hell of a lot better than their latest lol
I much prefer Forever and Ever over Resurrection. Resurrection is the band trying to find themselves after they kicked Steve out and it can be forgiven for not being particularly good because of that but I’d be real hard pressed to return to it.
Ressurection and Forever +Ever both have BIG issues that even big fans can have a problem looking past. Ressurection is definitely missing the 2nd guitar. They're not a good enough band to only have 1 guitar on an album. F+E is just so damn clumsy in the way the words are sung. Probably fitting too many words in most of the lines.
Resurrection had some pretty catchy hooks and fun moments. I agree it needed a second guitar, but there was some good potential in the songs themselves.
I mean it's not like the band were strong lyrically when they were a 5 piece. It seems like that member knew what sounded good on the ears though
reading the quoted portion above put this in my head: But when you need a boy around you just for the summmmeeerrrrrr Don't come knocking on my door
Resurrection is a second guitar away from being a REALLY good record. But it didn’t have it. So it’s not.
Yeah, them purposefully limiting themselves to try and prove a petty point didn't do any favors for that album. But whatev. They have great albums and terrible albums. They're only human.
Ready and Willing is a fantastic NFG song. Good on this band for carrying on and constantly releasing new music (albums, Eps, covers, Christmas songs, acoustic versions etc). They may not make albums I enjoy as much as certain previous records, but I’m still happy to have them doing their thing.
