I think the livestream songs being on the back part of the album is an odd choice, but they're good renditions and enjoyable, however I wish they had actually recorded the songs acoustically in the studio, not just kinda cleaned up the songs that are on YouTube.

If "Bloom" is a reference to Hayley, the band is going to get absolutely destroyed online. If it's not, they should have known the lyrics and song title would be taken as such.

 

If that 2nd paragraph is true this is a time that I miss someone pushing back on lyrics.

 

Yeah was disappointed that those renditions weren’t new recordings. Super excited for the rest though. Some thoughts in the newsletter this week?

 

How would bloom be reference to Hayley ?

 

Complete guess but Hayley’s solo album titles were Petals For Armor and Flowers For Vases. Those albums had songs that allegedly were about her relationship with Chad. There’s an old saying “the bloom is off the rose”. So maybe this is Chad’s response to Hayley’s songs about him.

 

They’ve been going back and forth since Makes Me Sick.

 

Really? I thought that they were still together when that album was released. I thought I remembered Hayley tweeting about it saying it had some of her favorite NFG songs on it.

 

Re-reading those lyrics now, having just re-listened to “Bloom” .. it’s not subtle.

They had privately separated. When After Laughter they went public and a divorce soon followed.

 

What are the lyrics? I haven’t heard the song but doesn’t seem too uncommon that there are two sides to a divorce? Again I haven’t heard the offending lyrics though

Definitely a bummer that the acoustic songs are from their acoustic live stream show and not new studio recordings.

Super bummed none of the acoustic dates worked for me. Seems like it will be a great show.
