what they said. haha. i listened to Coming Home yesterday for the first time in a couple years. still so great!
I never understood the hate for Coming Home. It was something completely different from what they had ever done during a time when most of the major pop punk bands were going more mature or darker and this was NFG's next step. It's a shame that the album got so much hate that NFG went backwards and have been basically putting out the same basic pop punk albums since.
I moved down to FL for college in 2006, when the album dropped. I wasn't a fan for the first few months, I was actually kind of let down. But then with it being my first time away from home for a long time and doing a long distance relationship, it started to click and then it reallyyyyy started to click. I was so glad I went to that tour that year when they played the majority of the album - wearing their Ben Sherman apparel all preppy lookin haha. But yes, it was a different vibe at the time but god do I love it now, still waiting for a vinyl pressing of it!
Man speaking of Coming Home you guys remember the Best Buy bonus track? If not here it is, soooo good
Site fuckn crashed...entered all info and hit submit..wont work EDIT: took a few minutes but I got my tickets...for all three shows!
I'm the one guy on the site that really doesn't care that album at all outside of Familiar Landscapes lol. And that's mostly due to one of the best bridges in their career. But none of their last three albums have done a lot for me either, so it stands to reason that I was a bit over them in general at that point
Whoever gets to go see their Coming Home shows, you lucky bastards. 2006 was a good year for this scene in retrospect wasn't it?
I messed up big time and waited till today to buy a ticket to NFG at The Mohawk in Austin, which is now sold out. If anyone ends up selling a ticket, please let me know!
I don't care for it either. I don't think its bad by any means, but nothing grabbed me. When you make classics like S/T and S&S, its hard to follow those.
Coming Home is probably an all-time top 5 for me now and i'm torn between "Golden" and "No Sensitivity" for my favorite b-side. don't really care about their first two and last two albums but the middle part of their discog is pure bliss
The STL date got sold out in a few days and people got PISSED. Like straight up demanding the show get moved the bigger venue next door because they didn't get a ticket. Tough shit.
played S/T in the car all day today and lost my voice IVE GROWN SICK IVE GOTTEN OLDER I FINALLY HAVE AN AUDIENCE TO IGNORE MEEE
According to their twitter, they are shooting a music video in nashville coming up. hopefully they release the song soon.
I wonder if they have a new single out by the 20th Anniversary Tour, and if they do if they play it live. Maybe an encore after the two albums are done?
