New Found Glory talked with V13 about their new album, and touched on some other interesting topics: “I don’t really know. We’ve been a band for so long, and we’re going to get our catalog back. How Taylor Swift rerecorded her albums, I’d never want to mess with anything like that, but I thought it could be fun, instead of rushing into a new album, to rerecord Coming Home in a heavier, New Found Glory style. That record always caused debate. It was either a fan’s favorite or their least favorite. So I thought it could be fun to make fans argue again, do they like the punker version of Coming Home or the piano version? When we play those songs live, they come out heavier because we’re using our normal gear. So that could be a fun thing to do. But as far as 30 years, I honestly forgot it was coming up. It’s pretty crazy. We still have to release this record, and life takes you where it takes you.” more Not all embedded content is displayed here. So many of their records hold special places for different reasons, but from a songwriting and overall quality standpoint Coming Home is their best, imho.
Not gonna lie, I would love to hear it. But I think they shouldn’t shit on that record. …NOW, if they wanna send Jimmy Eat World this idea and have them re-record Damage…
When coming home first came out I was disappointed in it and it was easily my least favorite NFG record. Now it's one of my favorites. While it could be interesting to hear it in another style, I think I agree that it is something that should be left alone just the way it is.
Title it the "Leaving Home" EP and rerecord a handful of tracks. Release it as part of the inevitable deluxe edition of Listen Up. My choices for songs would be the the first five songs from Coming Home and Boulders. Physical release should include the new songs with a special edition separate 10inch with unique artwork available exclusively on tour.
Coming Home was my favorite NFG album when it came out and still is. It's one of those what-if records. (What if Green Day's Warning was more of a hit?) I love it when bands take a swing like that, and it's always a bummer when the reaction to it is negative. Not Without a Fight, their "return to form" record is, not-coincidentally, one of my least favorites. It just feels like a reaction record. All that said, I'd still spin the sh*t out of a Coming Home re-record.
Totally agree. They just put it out at the wrong time. They went more indie and mature right when Fall Out Boy made fun pop-punk explode. Bad timing for a classic album.
