Everybody loves these new songs way more than me. Resurrection is underwhelming as a whole but I think those two songs are better than these first two songs they've released. I feel dumb cause I'm not getting the "wow this blows Resurrection out of the water" impression that everyone else is lol.
I actually enjoy Resurrection a lot, for what it is. However, from a production standpoint these two songs have a more full sound and gives them more life than songs on Resurrection. I was just thinking, "Man, what if the Resurrection songs had another guitar and some sort of synth in them?". After these two new songs I kind of want them to go back and add more to Resurrection haha.
Yeah I mean they sound fuller I'll give them that. The production or lack of a second guitar never bothered me as much as it did everybody else so I know I'm in the minority on that though haha.
That bothered me to no end. It's dramatic piece of their sound that was missing throughout almost the entire album.
Do they have someone playing a second guitar live? I agree I wouldn't choose one-guitar NFG over two-guitar NFG haha.
People are so hyperbolic with new songs sometimes hah. These two songs are good...on first listen apocalypse is a bit too poppy for my taste. Like I don't see how anyone could like these songs and hate the last two albums ...or vice versa
I think I like Party on more than HBM. Not sure yet. I love the guitar part in the pre-chorus after the stop and go verses. It's classic early 2000's pop punk that hooks me in every damn time. I like how light-hearted and fun the whole song is. Great execution in that regard. I am normally a buzz killington on bridges but I really liked this one, especially after Jordan comes back in with the bouncy delivery. I also think the dancing in the video helped me really get into it as well. Jason is right so far on this album. We're 2/2 now. I think we're going to get a really good NFG record. I'd love to see this record do sneaky well in the album or single charts and give them another boost in popularity. With Blink coming alive again it will be easy to point their new/younger fans to this record. I'd love to see that residual effect again.
They're playing pretty smart as far as album sales. All the tickets for these shows came with the album which is a fuck ton of tickets, since every show sold out besides a few. The shirt they're selling on the tour comes with the album as well. So that's a decent amount into the charts right there - Actually I know initially it said that each ticket came with the album but does anyone know if that's still the case? This was what was initially posted "Every online ticket comes with one (1) digital copy of New Found Glory’s forthcoming album to be released Spring 2017. You will receive an additional email with instructions on how to redeem your download, when it becomes available. Offer must be redeemed by June 12, 2017 . US/Canadian residents only. One album per online ticket."
They don't. And it's really missing on some songs live...a lot of the Coming Home album was good live, but still missed the rhythm guitar
Heading out camping tomorrow morning with some friends, can't wait for this to soundtrack the weekend
Quick thoughts after first listen: Sound of Two Voices is my least favorite, wasn't a huge fan of that. The synth in these songs is awesome. Having two guitar parts again is very, very nice. The chorus for Barbed Wire is insanely catchy. Jordan's voice feels a little buried to me in a lot of these songs when all the instruments are going. The closer has a nice little guitar riff before the final chorus. Overall, this album rules and is gonna be perfect for summer.
