It's so much fun. Had no idea some new tracks were coming out and I've been spinning this again lately now that it's getting nice and toasty outside.
If you go on Instagram you can see snippets from last night's benefit show. 2 guitarists on songs sounds so crazy again, haven't heard that live in soooo long. Sounds great.
It's very Descendents-ey, but I like it. I always forget how great this album is. Spinning it in full for the first time in forever, with the new songs. So good.
It's my favorite hands down actually lol maybe not good for a "single" but it's one of my favorite songs from their whole discography.
The new songs are on Spotify. Heaven Sent is good, wish they substituted in another lyric on the first or second go around of "they wanna take you away". I can see why Vacation Day was left out.
Vacation Day reminds me of something from Radiosurgery. This isn’t a diss to that record but I’m glad this song wasn’t on Makes Me Sick
Same here!I absolutely loved that song when the album came out,and its still one of my favorite songs by them.
I like Heaven Sent, although Your Jokes Aren't Funny is a better opener. Vacation Day is alright. I definitely see the "Radiosurgery throwback" comments. 20 Years From Now has never really impressed me all that much, but it is a good closer.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I actually really like the key change for the last chorus. It would have sounded too anti-climactic to just run through the pre-chorus and chorus for a third time to end the song, so adding that second time where he says "water" helped build up the tension and energy. I'm assuming it sounded awkward to do the chorus in the original key when it transitions from the new chord there, so changing the key was the obvious choice. It might be kind of gimmicky to some people, but I thought it was actually a good solution for that problem.
Sound Of Two Voices still doin’ it for me. I like Vacation Day the most out of the new batch...sounds like it’s straight off Sticks & Stones. (The chorus in particular)
