I think this new album incorporates the experimentation of Catalyst and Coming Home with the poppiness/cheese factor of Radiosurgery. All solid records and they each had a vision the band delivered on. To me, Resurrection was a singles album and lacked the cohesiveness the others had.
i feel like outside of this site (and absolutepunk at the time), resurrection was received much better than radiosurgery.
ill take the the few good songs on resurrection over the ones on radiosurgery any day. drill it in my brain is such a good song though.
Resurrection, to me, is a good but forgettable album. Radiosurgery, again - to me, is their worst effort that I never go back to listen to unfortunately. My favorite two albums are Sticks and Stones & Not Without a Fight. I think they're the band's catchiest & most solid all-around records.
The Sound Of Two Voices now available if you preordered the album. My first listen coming up EDIT: Wow, was not expecting that at all. I'll probably need to give it a few more listens to sink in. The chorus is very memorable
I obviously didn't say that and you know that if you read my post, but lyrics typically aren't the focal point for any pop-punk band and definitely aren't for this band, so yes, it's weird to criticize that aspect of the band because it virtually doesn't matter. You know exactly what you're getting with NFG lyrics, which is why comparing the lyrics here to past albums is arbitrary. Their lyrics have never been eloquent poetry in the past and they're not here. There's also nothing on this album that's nearly as bad as the writing on The Worst Person or Stories of a Different Kind.
The lyrics in The Sound of Two Voices are probably my favorite lyrics they've written in such a long time
my amazon order doesn't have an expected ship date yet. strange. says it will ship once it becomes available. wouldn't they have copies right on release day?
NFG was my first favorite band but i haven't been super into an album since Not Without a Fight. I am excited to try this though.
I've been digging this much more than every album from NWAF on, so hopefully you get some enjoyment out of it. It's short and sweet.
"You do it for money while I do it for a good time..." *wink wink Always thought that lyric was a little weird
Huh. I love that song. If I had to choose their worst, it would probably be something from Radiosurgery.
Honestly "Vicious Love" might be my least favorite NFG song ever, just off the top of my head. Would need to think on it more, though.
That might be 2nd for me. Can't believe they wrote those lyrics lol. Stories just strikes me musically as the laziest song they ever wrote.
