I think this might be my favourite album of 2017 so far. I have a different song stuck in my head every day. So good.
I wish! I'll just be at Disneyland while all the cooler kids are at NFG. Which albums are they performing tonight?
I hate to nitpick here, because I generally appreciate/like this album, but does anyone else feel like the synth "riff" in Barbed Wire is a bit jarring? It just feels like they shoehorned it in or made it too powerful in the mix. Just throwing that out there to see if I'm alone on that thought.
I think it makes the song stand out more. It might be jarring but I feel like the production is good enough to make it fit.
NFG is part my own personal Holy Trinity (Blink ad Green Day being the other two) so it hurts me to say this.....I hate this album. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth to say that, because I love this band so much, but Jesus....so underwhelming for me. Maybe 2-3 songs. It seems so tame and the kind of album a band puts out just to fulfill their record contract. Summed it up for some friends who haven't heard it yet, thusly- you like Coming Home? You'll like this album. I hate that said this and feel this way. Going to go curl up in a ball now....
Reasons, Heartless at Best, This Isn't You, Don't Let This Be the End and Listen to my Friends a little since it was the lead single.
obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but this is honestly the best stuff they have done for a long time.
I agree. Not saying it's a wrong opinion to have, but typically when a band like this puts out an album that I'm not crazy about but everyone else loves, I just chalk it up to "maybe my tastes have changed".
Saying an album is put out just to fulfill a record contract is a silly thing to say in the first place, but if any NFG album sounds phoned in like that, it's Resurrection.
Coming home is probably their second best record... also if anything this sounds the opposite of just phoning it in, a lot of new territory for the band here
