I love this record! I think it's my favorite of theirs since Not Without a Fight. Definitely going to be a summer jam.
For all you diehards, seeing as how i'm not familiair with the rest of their discography what would be the top 20 songs i HAVE to check out? I was born in the blink thread and we do love our lists!
Damn, that's hard.. If you don't want to go album by album, I would start with their hits throughout their career and go from there
"Thats when I don't want what I want. Cause what I want, it just might kill me and I won't think of my needs. Cause what I need, I know theres never enough for me."
I feel like Say It Don't Spray It could be on Self-Titled. Thats a good straight forward pop punk song right there. Classic NFG. Also, I feel like Short and Sweet could fit on Sticks & Stones with the bass tone/line, drum beat, heavy chorus, and guitar solo. I actually kind of wish this song closed the album out.
You want me to filter out singles and go with deeper cuts or just send a true "Top 20" attempt? I'm just not sure how unfamiliar you really are with the band. I have a list but it includes some of their more well known stuff that I could easily swap out.
Outside of this album the only songs i know are my friends, listen to your friends and vicious love so, maybe go with the songs you think are the best, single or not! Thanks in advance, you rock for doing this!
This album is pretty good, it definitely satisfies my desire for something a little different. There are a couple standard NFG songs that kinda bore me - "Say It Don't Spray It" comes to mind - but as a whole, it's a nice effort. Oh, and The Sound of Two Voices is instantly one of their best songs ever.
never thought i'd look forward to a NFG album again. the two singles were pretty cool so maybe they'll win me back with this one. holding off until 4/24 though
At first I was going to disagree, but I think after I've had enough time with this album I'll feel the same way.
Just finished my first listen, and I just realized that I still really don't need any more NFG songs. Then again, I've been an inconsistent fan. I don't like 90% of S&S, my favourite records are S/T and Not Without a Fight, and I only like singles from the other records. Nothing about this gives me anything new to care about. The lyrics are pretty bad all around, and while it is damn catchy I just don't care. I think fun, silly, pop punk has a place (I love blink's latest stuff) but maybe my lack of a connection to this band - nostalgic, emotional, or otherwise - really makes me not care about this release. I will say the island-influenced song threw me for a loop in a good way, but overall I doubt I'll come back to this.
Yep, this is an NFG record I think I've said that about their last 4 albums. Not a bad thing, just is what it is.
Yeah, I usually have a low bar set for NFG records. As long as they're fun, have catchy hooks, and cool guitar parts...its all good in my book. Thats NFG to me. Will always respect them and wish I was in the band bc it would be fun haha.
Absolutely love this on first listen. I'm biased as they've been my only 'favourite' band for what is fast approaching 20 years (It's insane for me to write that) - but I'm really impressed. It's exactly what I want from an NFG record. The Sound of Two Voices is a nice departure - really fun. Can't wait to have this on in the car as the sun is shining!
I've listened to Party On Apocalypse legit 80 times since it came out. Not listening to the full album until release date.
Call Me Anti-Social sounds like it could be a Set Your Goals song. The back half of this album obliterates the front.
I want to sit by a beach or pool and drink fruity cocktails in the sun while the Sound of Two Voices plays. I then want that song to play again while I do shitty white guy dancing after I've had too many of said cocktails. Really fun song.
