3 month early leak...reminds me of the early 2000s. i havent really dug an NFG album since Not Without a Fight. This sounds ok, but some lyrics so far are RIDICULOUS cringey. Puzzles was such a great song. surprised its not included on this

I'd take Green Day in a heartbeat

  3. That Green Day album and all their marketing around it is too embarrassing to even compare.

Wasn't 95-96 the year they went 72-10 in MJ's first complete season back?

I think the single is catchy. Haven’t listened to any other songs form the leak but the single is fast and fun and I enjoy that for sure

“You leave me napkins, in my glovebox, ‘cause you know I’ll need them, to wipe my hands off. Yeah, I eat in my car way too much, and you know me better than anyone.”

Now, what exactly about that is ridiculous to you?

All the criticism about the lyrics makes me think Ian wrote them all or something haha

Sometimes I enjoy songs because of how they sound, with the lyrics being secondary. But some of these lyrics are a bit puzzling.

I’m the same way, and often times bad lyrics will not even register with me (this band being a good example of that). But man, there are lyrics in almost every track here that I would legitimately be embarrassed to be caught singing. Haha.

The melodies on this are so dull. People calling it a throwback had me expecting something similar to self-titled or Sticks and Stones but these songs sound infinitely less creative and dynamic than those.

Doing another listen through. I really like Nothing To Say. The first song is also decent.

I love NFG. They will forever be one of my favorite bands. But I REALLY hate the title of this album.

I wouldn't call this a throwback, that would mean there are actual strong hooks and catchy songs here

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Lol that album has a place somewhere in my heart but it doesn’t necessarily need to be dug outta there anytime soon

After Puzzles I think I was expecting wayyyy bigger hooks. There’s nothing Party on Apocalypse-level here. Musically it’s cool even if I loved the synth stuff they did on the last record. At the end of the day I just want catchy as fuck NFG. This is catchy. Just missing the as fuck

This is a reasonable explanation of the new record.

Curious to see where people would rank Puzzles among their songs from the last decade. It seems like some of their “non-album” songs end up being really good. Connect The Dots was fantastic as well.

    Things have changed.

I also think I liked 'Situations.'

  21. I always thought Puzzles was just fine. Kinda just sounds like Call Me Anti-Social pt.2 — never have gotten the “throwback” energy from it that a lot of people around here seemed to

Stuff dosent like like it used too because they changed the release dates from Tuesday to Friday so it’s a global release

Its Official. Album is great for runs and the gym. I still prefer Kill It Live though.

I don’t think I ever heard puzzles more than once either.

Puzzles definitely sounds like a b-side. It's not even closely comparable to My Friends Over You, Hit or Miss, All Downhill etc.
