True, but on the other hand... I wouldn't want them to pull that trick twice since Puzzles was the bonus on the "album" before it. That would be a little lame.
Well, maybe they shouldn't write a lame, back to basics album immediately after flirting with something more interesting
I think the previous one was a good quality demo, so they could get away with a final version if they released it with more songs on a deluxe.
Pretty much. NFG isn't anywhere near as relevant as they used to be and the lead singles didn't make people want to check it out. With streaming being super important now days, the songs they released before album drop probably turned a lot of people away. The tour with Simple Plan may have sold well, but its not because people want to hear anything new by either band. It was a pure nostalgia cash grab.
Would've been interesting if they'd scrambled after the leak to come up with a quicker release, how that would've impacted sales/charts...if that even matters. Doesn't take much to add a few more "bonus tracks" to incentivize purchase for something more than the leak songs...something like that. I dunno. But hey, those Target exclusive temporary tattoos are so...so great.
Yeah, gotta echo that this album wasn’t gonna do well. Aging pop punk acts don’t sell well to begin with and when you add the pandemic and the inability to tour and sell your record, it was doomed.
it's just boring. their biggest mistake outside of writing an uninspired and tired pop-punk album was not changing their plans after it leaked in February. instead they doubled down on the May release date and then pushed that back and boom that's how you get a record that does less than 10k here's a consequence that many people don't think of when there is an early leak and why it's so important to push up a release to at least release digitally. people download the leaked files and sync them as local files to their Apple Music or Spotify accounts - five months go past and the album finally releases on digital platforms but since all the fans already downloaded the leak and have the local files on their devices NFG isn't making any money off streaming since I doubt that many fans went through the trouble of deleting those local files and then adding the streaming album. the band let itself down but so did their label and management.
I still find this album undeniably fun. Sometimes I need some over the top cheese in my life to put a smile on my face. This did that.
The leak no doubt damaged the impact of the album (regardless of fans' reception), but I was pretty surprised they didn't move the official release date up at all to counteract the leak. That probably hurt.
Yeah honestly as cheesy as the album is, I love how fast paced it is. It's been great to put on when doing a workout.
it 1000000% percent hurt - I would love to know why the band and/or their management were so stubborn about it
