Yeah everything about this record just feels “different.” Like im unsure how much effort was actually put in.
It's insane how this band released two great projects (MMS and FTSTYS3) and then put this out. I didn't need an NFG album this quickly. They could have bought time by having a 20 yr Anniversary "tour" for NGCS and playing a few shows.
This album seems more like a contractual obligation than anything. Kinda like Green Day’s Father of All.
I have nothing valuable to contribute but I will say it seems like every NFG record splits fans opinions, and this one is no exception. If it isn't your cup of tea, chances are the next one will be.
It's crazy they're playing 40 songs. If I'm around I'm definitely gonna have to watch this. Surprised to see 47 on there.
This is fine for what it is, I enjoy some of it and I'll put it on occasionally, but it's a massive regression from MMS. This band's trajectory is really disappointing compared to the potential they've shown
Six on Drive-Thru (Including MCA/Geffen) One on Geffen (I think coming home was technically just a Geffen release) Two on Epitaph And this will be the fourth on Hopeless Long story short, no idea how many records they owe them.
Musically there's some good stuff here, it's just that the lyrics are unbelievably cringe and off putting that i'd find it hard coming back to this. I wonder what Steve Evetts thought when he heard some of these lyrics for the first time in the studio lol
