I am enjoying the song that didn't leak before. But I will need to re listen to this album again to see how it stacks up with the rest.
New Found Glory New pre order options. New vinyl variant for only $15, signed vinyl for $30, and the cd and digital download are both only $5. Were they always selling it for that cheap?
I think they made a ton of variants for this album...and maybe they aren't selling well, I dunno. You think they would've learned their lesson from the thousands of leftover variants for Makes Me Sick/Again. I personally like the album but I wonder if that massively early leak hurt their ability to hype it up with advance singles. People found out the rest of it is fair-to-middling and noped out.
Have revisited the album and I feel that the vocals are very flat in parts of the album. Not a massive fan of the mixing/production on this.
The chorus to Same Side Sitters: So let's sit on the same side when we're out At your favourite restaurant And we won't care if the waiter thinks that we look cringy Sit on the same side of the restaurant And we'll kiss if we want Even if the locals think that we look cringy
Yup. And the Outro is "I'm holding on to you Like Gorilla Glue Despite this it is typically catchy NFG
I still have my vinyl pre-ordered because I want to support the band and want it for my collection. But I doubt I will end up spinning it much.
This band is really referencing "FaceTime" and "gorilla glue" lol ugghhh Makes Me Sick was so good what is happeningggg
Is Greatest of All Time the best song on here? I love that song, but haven't been a fan of any of the other promotional singles.
I think The Way You Deserve might be the best on here, but I haven't listened to the whole thing in a while sadly.
Haven't heard "Same Side Sitters", but I thought "Stay Awhile" was by far the best one on there. A lot of them have catchy hooks ("Shook by Your Shaved Head", "Greatest of All Time", etc.) but the lyrics just ruin them for me. Some of them like "Nothing to Say" and "Himalaya" are really good instrumentally, but again, can't stand the lyrics. Unfortunately those are just about the "high" points for me. I still really don't get how they dropped the ball there. It sounds like someone's 7-year-old kid tried writing the words to the album and they decided to use them as a novelty thing.
If I was to rank from last to 1st... 15. More and More: Nothing overly wrong with it but it's just sort of there and plods along. They've done much better ballads. Doesn't really have a catchy hook or anything. Could grow on me in time but right now the weakest on the album. 14. Himalaya: Never been big on the heavier tracks. I can see the appeal for those who are into the heavier stuff and again not a bad song at all just not really for me. 13. Birthday Song but Not Really: Again, good song just there are a good few better. Not one of their strongest. 12. Nothing To Say: This would be higher but I'm not a fan of the ending, not really my kind of thing an instrumental outro. 11. Shook By Your Shaved Head: This has grown on me over time somewhat. Bit heavy for me in terms of the intro etc. 10. Do You Want To Settle Down: Starts of kind of OK but got a typically NFG catchy chorus. Starts off with a few questionable lyrics about straining their wrist from swiping right. 9. Trophy: Lyrics are a bit odd in places but very singalongtoable 8. The Way You Deserve: Similar to Settle Down, starts off nothing too special, big fan of the bridge and then the middle bit when it kicks back in at "We just want you back home, so don't move too far." 7. Double Chin For The Win-God the lyrics in the chorus are cringeworthy but it also does get stuck in your head. Often rather embarrassingly find myself singing around the house "You could have any other guy and can't you see my sides hang over my jeans" 6. Slipping Away: This could easily be higher up. Love the gang vocals at the end. Another thing NFG do amazingly is gang vocals. A far better slow song than More and More and a good way to end the album. 5. Scarier than Jason Vorhees: This is one that I'll often seek out to play. Has the NFG trick of having really catchy verses. "You scoot closer my blood pressure is up so I change another channel and I stop on Friday...The Thirteenth", Lyrics also fit well with the title of the song. 4. Like I Never Existed-Another that I'll often specifically seek out. And also starts off with a great verse...although I've not yet worked out the lyrics and seemingly neither have the contributors to Genius. 3. Same Side Sitters: Like Double Chin the extremely questionable lyrics in the chorus, it's really stuck in my head at the moment. Can see it coming across really well live. 2. Greatest Of All Time: A strong introduction to the album. The "Jordan Rodman and PIppen wouldn't have known what had hit them" despite being a bit divisive has really stuck in my head. 1. Stay Awhile. Chad said this is going to be the next one they make a video for. Great choice. Typically catchy NFG with a chorus that sticks in your head. Love the na na nas in the outro too.
