I’ve seen comments here and there like this but nobody ever says why he’s a shitbag? Care to enlighten?

it was re-pressed in 2012 on 3 colors all that range on the aftermarket between 70-150 dollars

 

cheating on Sheri/grooming Hayley when she was a teen/cheating on Hayley etc etc

 

Shit. I have it somewhere. And it doesn’t seem like it was that long ago. I have the worst concept of time

 

Chad has always seemed like a genuine guy at shows and at meet and greets

 

I’m a bottle of wine deep and listening to this album while watching the NH primary/Spurs game on mute and this is a pretty fun record for what it is (and their most punk sounding record). I think it would’ve worked better as an EP, but I don’t hate it as much as I did yesterday (though I’d still rank it as my least favorite)

It’s not even the lyrics all the time. It’s not hooky and there are some strange melodies throughout.

 

just gonna say this and be done

A) his interactions with y’all have nothing to do with the reasons people criticize him, and

B) even if they did (again, they do not), it feels like the bar should be higher than “I approached him to give praise at his concert that I paid money to see and he wasn’t an asshole for a few minutes”

not trying to call anyone out or make anyone feel bad, just please try to step outside of your own experiences in these situations! can’t force anyone to talk about his toxic behavior but we for sure do not need people trying to counter it when it comes up

This album is pretty okay with some fun moments for sure and some of the worst lyrics of all time

also we do not need a 15 song New Found Glory album in 2020

 

Agreed. I could be off base, but to me it feels like they had some of these goofy lyrics in mind (that are sometimes way too wordy) and were determined to work them in. So they had to try way too hard to craft a melody that would fit around it all. There are a lot of times where he has to break up the line mid-sentence or add a word in an awkward spot to resolve a melody.

A lot of their best hooks sound so effortless and natural. That is not really the case here.

 

Stay Awhile rules

 

I personally wasn't trying to counter anything on purpose. Obviously I know my experiences are limited and do not represent the whole picture. If anything, I'm just trying to get as much information as I can, as it seems there is a lot I don't know about.

 

I've been a New Found Glory fan for a good 20 years. They're my all time favourite band.

GOAT is one of those NFG songs that when it starts you think "hmmm OK not too sure" and then the chorus hits and gets stuck in your head. Kind of like Radiosurgery

With the album not many songs really jump out to start with but that doesn't alarm me as a lot of NFG songs are slow growers. Songs like Barbed Wire, Memories and Battle Scars, Degenerate I didn't think too much of on first listen now I think they're great.

Double Chin For The Win does have an incredibly cringy title and lyrics. Written by Chad I'd guess from the line "haven't you heard the awful things they say about me". I've no idea whether his sides hang over his jeans but I guess that pushing 40 means he probably has a bit of the inevitable chub men get at that age. Despite the bad lyrics it's one of the more catchy songs on the album and can see it being a single.

Scarier than Jason Vorhees At A Campfire was another one that grabbed me quite quickly..

From a lot of the lyrics to the songs it seems like whoever is writing the songs felt rather loved up writing this.

 

I mean yeah out of context that line is REALLY bad but in context its not. The song is a joke in music form. I always thought it was a song they recorded for themselves and their friends.

 

Probably my favorite on the whole thing. That one would have easily fit on the last record, in my opinion.

 

Shook By Your Shaved Head must be about Jordan shaving his head not too long ago.

 

The outro of Nothing To Say is fucking awesome. Songs been on repeat today.

Also, Cyrus’ drumming on this album is a highlight

 

Those listening to the leak, in "Nothing to Say" what's the word at the end of the line around the 20 second mark?

"you think you’re in the know/ can’t see past your nose/ just stepping stones / you opportunist ______?"

 

Kinda hard to tell but I hear “ohhh, you’re so see through”
