I got a few episodes into The Comeback and had to back out, I was getting too much secondhand embarrassment. Lisa Kudrow is almost too good

Lovecraft Country and Hacks are fantastic HBO Max originals. Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn are also great if you're into superhero stuff.

every word is incredible but the capper of “well that’s silly; that’s over for the season” is just exquisite

Lovecraft was such a cool show, very sad they didn't get to continue it.

  14. Started The Wire this week — been meaning to for years. Even bought the first season on DVD ages ago, definitely in an unknown location now collecting dust. It’s not bad so far, feels a little slower than I expected but I’m halfway through the first season now and it feels like that’s about to change

Good lord it can be dense though, haha. I’m already a very “no phone while watching TV” person, but even I’ve had to run a few scenes back because I wasn’t totally positive what just happened

Yeah The Wire picks up about halfway through s1 and then s2 turns a lot of people away. It's not bad at all, in fact it's great, but just goes a different direction. The show is at its best in seasons 3 and 4 IMO.

When I rewatched The Wire I thought the whole first season was perfect, but maybe that came with familiarity

I tried watching The Wire when I was in college and couldn't get past the first couple episodes. Tried again a few years later and just blew through it all, so addicting. Something about it is hard to get into at first for some people

Season 2 is one of my favorites. It’s fleshes out a lot of stuff.

I LOVE season 2. Season 5 is the one I’m a little iffy on, if any, but it’s all great.

Yeah season 5 is easily the weakest.
