Watched Heck tonight and I didn't find it remotely scary? I'm pretty surprised, I'm a big baby when it comes to horror

 

Succession S4 and Yellowjackets S2 are what come to mind for me (both premiere the same weekend!). Probably not, but maybeeee True Detective S4 if it's good? Ted Lasso S3 will be huge but I guess that's not considered an "event" show.

I was also referring to like tentpole known IP event type series.

 

Some new, upcoming shows that are on my radar..

The Fall of the House of Usher, new Mike Flanagan Netflix series. I wasn't a huge fan of Midnight Club, but the Haunting Of series and Midnight Mass are so good that I'm still excited for this.

Love & Death, new HBO limited series written by David Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Undoing) and directed by Linka Glatter (Mad Men, Homeland). Starring Elizabeth Olsen, Jesse Plemons, Patrick Fugit, and Lily Rabe.

Masters of the Air, new AppleTV+ WWII miniseries developed by Spielberg in the vein of Band of Brothers and The Pacific.

Mrs. Davis, new Peacock series from Damon Lindelof. Stars Betty Gilpin.

 

I've posted about in here previously but Hulu/FX's Shogun is definitely on my radar I think that has some potential to be big. Also Hulu/FX's Class of 09 sounds very interesting.

There is a bunch of other Apple TV+ historical limited series in production ( the manhunt for John Wilkes Booth, Benjamin Franklin in France starring Michael Douglas, Huey P Newton's escape to Cuba) that sound cool but unclear at this time if they're getting a release in 2023.

 

Documentary Feature Oscar nominee Fire Of Love is now on Hulu. Previously it was just on Disney+

 

Definitely interested in the Shogun series. Don't know anything about the novel or the original series adaptation, but my parents had the dvd set haha.

 

Had no idea Servant was on its 4th season... legit thought it was just on 2. How have I not heard much about it prior to this week? On EP7 of the first season, just so damn good.

I started watching Frozen Planet II and man it's awesome. There's a sequence with polar bears in the second episode which is one of my favorite things ever in a nature documentary.

 

You People. Wow, so fucking disappointing! A very hip and slick looking movie that after like 40minutes I realized "huh, i dont think ive laiughed once?" Dreyfus, Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill, and THIS is what you give them? weak.

 

Julia's character was the most cringe I think. Other than a few funny moments between Jonah and Eddie in the car, this was pretty weak overall.

 

I thought it was fun and had a good time with it.

I don't really see that many movies with dreyfus , so I figured if she was in this then the material would be way better than that.

 

Oh I love her as an actress, usually she's great in everything. I am a huge Seinfeld fan, but this was one of her worst roles.

 

Even her 10 minutes in Wakanda Forever was better haha
