Not sure where else to put this but how did Barry not get nominated for a Golden Globe for Best TV Series (comedy or drama)??

 

Reading the Minx article, instead of just the headline, you'll see that it's getting taken off HBO for a GOOD reason. Because they are shopping season 2 around to other distributors who would also get S1 rights.

 

I mean, they're only shopping it because HBO cancelled it to save money. It's still incredibly shitty

 

but if it doesn’t get picked up elsewhere then it’s done right? you just can’t watch it

 

While I don't have direct insight here, what my GUESS is, is that the production team for the film is buying back the rights or ending their contract with HBO so that they are able to shop it around. Even if they don't find a home for season 2, which they probably will, they still would be able to shop the season 1 rights. Again, just my guess

 

they did the same thing with several of their HBO original movies during the pandemic that have not been picked up elsewhere. it's a weird precedent and something it seems like they're the only ones doing right now. also this today. fuck that.

 

Love Life was great, what a shame. Curious to see how this affects their contracts going forward and creators’ willingness to work with them

 

Biggest snub of the GGs for me is Edebiri and Moss-Bachrach from The Bear not getting supporting comedy actor noms.

 

I'm finally getting around to the last season of Westworld so hopefully they keep it on long enough for me to watch five more episodes.

I can imagine Westworld could have some pretty expensive residuals based on the budget and how many seasons, but it seems like a copout answer for something like Love Life

yeah it’s the little shows especially animation that have tiny residuals. someone posted it at some point but one of the creators of the animated shows had a thread about all small the residuals were but they needed them to live and now they’re gone. it’s bullshit.
