The dance number midway through RRR is perfection

 

I hope RRR is a jumping off point for a lot of people to delve more into Indian cinema. Bollywood is obviously incredible, but it’s informed by an extremely rich history. Satyajit Ray is a monumental figure, but Raj Kapoor is equally great and the progressive documentaries of Anand Patwardhan are powerful resources.

I watched that Princess movie with Joey King on Hulu. It was entertaining and fun but some of the writing did make me laugh and you kinda had to ignore everything else and just enjoy the action. Like at one point the big baddie was so outnumbered and they were all doing exactly nothing except Joey and I was like ??? Why are you all cowering there's like way more of you and also ur not gonna help a sister out and leave it to the presumably late teens/early 20 year old girl to defend you all?? Lol ok

 

I can't buy into Joey King as an ass-kicking princess lol

at least not yet

 

I bought it okay because the men she was fighting against were largely inept so it was a lil more believable. Also there was a rly not funny fat joke where one character pretty much existed only to be mocked for being fat and out of shape. It was v jarring and unnecessary and offensive.

 

RRR is so long, but also the most insane movie I've seen in some time.

you can skip Devil's Knot completely. I make a very brief cameo appearance in the background at the end of 3.

 

I feel a lot better with the Duffer brothers doing a Deathnote adaptation over the morons who did the live action movie, but ehh, the original is too good. It can only end in disappointment

Plus, as awful as the movie was, you can't really beat Dafoe for Ryuk

yeah we finished the bear and I’m caught up on the old man. Trying to finish the new season of the umbrella academy but I’m really not enjoying it.

 

Probably starting Dark Winds this week.

 

I enjoyed it. It's getting panned, but I don't really get it. It seems to be a solid 6/7 for a TV series. Pratt is great in it. Hopefully they continue with Reece's stories from the books.

Fun little cameo from the author of the books and former Seal, Jack Carr, as the assassin Gordo.

 

Yeah I don’t get it either; I thought it was a solid, decently well put together action thriller/mystery series. Pratt’s acting stood out as pretty good. Logically most character decisions made sense. Hopefully they do keep the series going.
