Wow that blows, Raised by the Wolves too. When did HBO start canceling shows I feel like they're normally pretty reliable about finishing through.

 

Dammnnn, woulda liked to see what happened next but I get it. I can't name a single person who has ever heard of Made For Love, much less watches it

“Spiderhead” is the latest example of most streamers just having no idea how to build hype or market their exclusives. I haven’t seen an ad for “Fire Island” (but I also credit that to Hulu/Disney hating 20th Century everything), Apple TV + seems to run solely on word of mouth, Netflix drops way too much shit to keep up with. Maybe Amazon does a decent job, but I’m not sure.

HBO really does seem like the only one that’s doing it kind of right but I expect the Discovery merger to screw that up too.

 

The marketing of Prey has been pretty good so far. I feel like that one trailer generated way more hype than what i was expecting that movie to get.

Amazon does a really good job of advertising their big hits and upcoming shows… on their webstore. So it doesn’t always feel like advertisement as much. They had a huge global rollout of Wheel of Time ads, so I’m sure Lord of the Rings will also have a huge rollout (they’ve already had multiple magazine spreads).

I often think my perception of ads is also screwed because if you continuously stream ad-less services, you may not see anything.

 

If Apple doesn't do a huge marketing campaign before Masters of the Air comes out i'll be shocked. The third of Spielberg/Hanks' WW2 trilogy is too big of deal not to.

 

Just finished Hustle; very good.

Definitely up there with PDL, Uncut Gems, and Meyerwitz for Adam Sandler performances.

 

Hate the streaming wars so much since I want to see the original top gun but of course it’s on the one service I now don’t have paramount

 

Made For Love had a great cast and I enjoyed it a lot. It definitely flew under the radar though so I understand why it got canceled.

Apple kind of fumbled both Tom Hanks movies so I’m not holding out hope. ButK think there’s enough boomers that will flock to it.
