Plenty of people are not only watching it, but also talking about it in the thread.

Yea, it's the search feature on this site I guess. I searched Barry and it looked like nobody had posted there since July 2021. I didn't think to open the thread and check. I just popped in there and see it's active. Thanks.

Are all of the episodes of this season of the circle out yet? I like waiting until they’re all out to binge

finale is next Wednesday, so unless you really hardcore binge 12 episodes in the next 5 days, you probably could start anytime

I'm not being purposefully dumb, or looking to argue, but where did Netflix get the reputation and hate for never giving a show a 2nd season? I just googled a list, and most of the 1/2/3 season shows, I haven't heard of (or checked out and they were meh), and there are a lot of long running shows still going. I'm genuinely curious why this opinion seems widely held but seems untrue to me? I don't see how they cancel more shows than most networks do, and I don't see any egregious super hits that didn't get the chance to finish their story.

American Vandal, Santa Clarita Diet, GLOW, Love and every Marvel show all come to mind. Stranger Things and Sabrina are like the only Netflix show I watched that weren't canceled after 3 seasons. I am shocked Sabrina made it to 4 seasons tbh.

they also tend to cancel shows from lgbtq creators or with lgbtq themes, and they also renewed Heartstopper the week they said if you have a problem with Dave Chappelle being transphobic that's a you problem and fired hundreds of LGBTQ employees

They canceled I Am Not Okay With This after a cliffhanger first season and I'll never forgive them for that. That show had so much potential.

  20. This season got going on a strange foot for sure. I still liked those episodes enough but they kinda felt like a different show. Said it in the thread but episode 4 felt like the real return — stick with it

I still think their cancelation rate is on par (or only slightly higher) than other networks/streaming services (and especially considering they were the dominant network and were just throwing out content as quick as possible for a while meaning 1st season orders were extremely high). I see a few cancelled shows that based on the buzz I've heard where popular, but also I'm hearing of some stuff for the first time that was either poorly promoted, or just not good enough/appealing enough to cut it and make the netflix charts. A show not being watched and cancelled is not the same as 'they cancel everything that's good' (which is one of the loudest complaints about netflix at the minute - besides the whole Dave Chapelle thing and I won't touch that conversation).

A Netflix original that didn’t get cancelled and I believe got a proper send off that I’m just now getting to about two decades late is Bojack Horseman and I’m enjoying immensely, as I knew I would, it just takes me a very long time to get to things lol

Yea, I'm surprised they are already renewed for a 4th as the show really has a habit of writing itself into some holes but somehow getting out of it and allowing the story to continue. I think that's what the first 2 was about, as the events at the end of season 2 could have led to the end of the show without getting creative with it.

  24. i wish every show had a 3 season contract.

season 1 can hook you in, introduce characters, etc, and then end with a cliff hanger into season 2.
season 2 follows the bigger story or whatever, end with another cliff hanger.
season 3 continues the story and wraps it all up nicely. the end.

There are plenty of shows that had a rough start, so it is interesting to think about what cancelled shows that were mediocre, could have become great, but I also understand that's just not how it works. Bojack horseman was mentioned and that had a bad start, but when it hit it's stride, it was amazing. But for every Bojack horseman, there's also a show that never found its footing. I don't envy the execs that have to make the hard decisions on determining which shows are which (especially originals without the prospect of the source material to come).
