I tried watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt a few days ago, got through 3-4 episodes and this is not my cup of tea.

Times like these I wish Netflix had a “never mind, not gonna finish this” button so I don’t constantly get reminded to continue watching it.

Luckily all the relationships are problematic!! But the heart of the show is the Villanueva ladies who support each other and are lovely

  4. I have a terrible memory but the first season of Kimmy is incredible and I think the 3rd season as well? And 2 was eh and 4 was okay.

I couldn't get through the first season either, even though there's a lot of great people in it.

I love Kimmy a lot, but there are some really weird missteps in each season. A lot of it comes from Tina Fey’s “both sides” kind of vibe that seems to be in everything she does. Overall it’s still one of my favorite Netflix shows, but like I said about 30 Rock the other day, it’s mostly for the absolutely insane and surreal lines and characters more than the story. The way they talk about trauma and growth and friendship is great though.

Yeah, the weird lecturing about college students definitely felt off.

But I cant deny a show with a character as great as Titus. Just an all-time best sitcom character and performance.

I liked the last season of Kimmy. I don’t think I actually watched the second season, just picked up at the third with my roommate and finished the series. Titus was the best part of that show.

I watched 2.5 seasons of Kimmy Schmidt before giving up. It's too absurd for my taste and oddly mean-spirited at times

It’s so good. Just understand that it really is a telenovela at heart.

  15. Didn't Kimmy Schmidt have a Vietnamese character played by a Korean actor, and his name (Dong) and accent were constantly made to be a joke? Maybe they got better with his portrayal, but I peaced out after S1 I think.

  17. Not that I've ever watched SNL regularly, but it's shit like that that makes Tina Fey my least favorite SNL alum. As far as I know, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Kristen Wiig have never done that kind of thing.

There's some problematic things that Fey has done. But if we're judging based on that, some of the questionable stuff she's been a part of wouldn't land her in the top 10 worst SNL alums.

  20. Eh, like I said, I don't watch SNL very much, I only know of a few of the newer alums from stuff they've done post-SNL. And of those few, she's my least favorite.

Speaking of other people noticing stuff, when did they put Wet Hot American Summer the movie back on Netflix? I’m probably super late but that was a nice treat.

Had no idea until it came up in recommended. I had had a conversation with my girlfriend that I doubted it was coming back until around Halloween, so much to my chagrin she rubbed it in my face all night as we watched the first 3 episodes. Very good! I'd say up to par with the first season.

This was one of those shows that I wasn't looking for or thought I would like until I started it.
