people are also probably less-willing to go to the movies if ticket prices go up, the film is poorly marketed, theaters are dirty, audiences are loud, and customers have to sit through half an hour of previews before the film even starts. if they can't generate audience demand to see films they know little about or might have a bad experience watching in a particular theater, they're probably not gonna play for very long, which is unfortunate

Started season 3. Show is absurd in all the best ways. Crazy fight/gun scenes.

Don’t want to get into a long argument about theaters and window times and all that but having shorter windows for theatrical releases is overall a negative.

I don't want shorter windows, so I'm agreeing with you there. But I also don't see the need for extremely long windows like 90 days. That's all I'm saying.

i agree it's bad. just wanting to know how theaters and studios plan to fix that. they have to get people to want to go to the movies to keep them in longer, and on their end that's gonna require effective marketing/ticket pricing and cultivating a positive theatrical experience.

That Nat Geo OKC Bombing 30th anniversary docuseries on Hulu/Disney+ is really good. Seeing a lot of footage and perspective from survivors I have never seen before.

Sounds interesting and I’ve always been somewhat uninformed about that whole situation. Might watch

Even growing up in Oklahoma it was just like “Timothy McVeigh was upset about the situation at Ruby Ridge,” our schools didn’t go into the white supremacist side of things at all. I knew nothing about Elohim City until Last Podcast On The Left did a series on the bombing in 2017 or 2018

Season 2 of Waco on Showtime with Michael Shannon a couple years ago was all about the investigation into Elohim City and the build up to OKC. It was pretty good.

The nat geo doc doesn't go too deep into McVeigh besides his basic background and his connection to Waco. The focus wasn't really who he was or how he did it, but more about first person accounts from survivors, family members of victims, first responders, local media, feds, and politicians about their recollections of that day and the aftermath. Bill Clinton and the former governor of OK are in this.

Watched the first episode of Mobland. Really liked it, fantastic cast.

Both seasons of Waco were really good; fascinating history I wasn't as familiar with before the show.
