The premise with that cast sounds like a fun movie. I immediately lost interest when I saw that it was a show (that was renewed for a second season).

 

I just have trouble with Kristen Bell in general, despite liking “Veronica Mars” and “The Good Place.” Wish it was any other actress.

Could not agree with this more. There was a commercial this year with her and Dax where she just yells “hold” over and over. And just thinking about it gives me a chill down my spine because of how grating it became seeing it all the time when I already didn’t really like her all that much outside of those shows. And Dax always just sucked.

They’ve just become two particularly unbearable people. Those Carvana ads - In no known universe do I believe two multimillionaries are selling their cars on a website or anywhere.

 

We need to coin a word that is a corollary to parasocial but where they become so annoying because you see / follow to much of them.

my wife wants to watch the show bc she loves adam brody (can’t blame her) but everything i’ve heard about the show’s writing of jewish women is pretty off putting to me

 

I started it mostly for Brody but couldn’t finish - it’s very dull and full of unlikeable characters. The two mains have zero chemistry, their romance is entirely unearned. Finally quit about halfway through when I learned that it’s based on a true story in which the real life the shallow white podcaster is also a nepo baby and the rabbi is… not a rabbi. Rich woman married a Jewish guy and thought damn this should be a show

 

Anyway caught up on GBBO this week, weird start to the season but I like this year’s roster a lot. Caramel week was great. Paul seemingly discovering peanut butter and jelly a couple episodes ago was ???

now reflecting on this (and I say that having liked the show) this is actually 100% on point and is probably one of the most offensively stereotypically written shows in a long time.
