I dunno how he will crossover. Mr. Beast is a huge success because he is one of the first creators to fully crack the YouTube algorithm, and his videos are very much tailored to that. Streaming service content is a different animal and the same style and presentation isn't going to work there.

 

I know this isn't a new observation or anything, but it's so weird how fragmented pop culture is now, when the most popular account on the biggest streaming media site has never once been served to me by their algorithm, and I've only heard of him at all because of a tweet thread analyzing the political ramifications of his weird olympics map.

 

I hadn't seen a Mr. Beast video until a few months ago when one of them was making the rounds on twitter. My first thought was "this feels like Mythbusters for 13 year olds with ADHD. Obviously not for me. Respect the grind though"

Also Mr Beast has like Jordan and The Rock levels of insane brand protectiveness.

 

Only thing I know about him is he has some candy bars

 

I saw part of one of his videos once and was like, oh yeah I get it.

 

What's the story here

 

It’s been gone over a million times but giving an unhoused person money on camera and saying “people say I’m exploiting you, you don’t feel that way right?” to him was atrociously bad vibes.

It’s lowest common denominator algorithm playing where the only purpose is to make him more money. I’m glad for those who receive money and services from him. He gives every appearance of a soulless, artless capitalist influencer who recognizes the money he gives away will be made up for tenfold from his click-motivated content and I would not trust anything about him as a person because he is just an avatar for himself to make hundreds of millions of dollars.

 

I just don’t understand it because he’s admitted he has no life or personality so why keep pumping out more videos to make more money to not even enjoy it?

The guy was a teenage youtuber who did low quality videos about guessing celebrities net worths, dropped out of college, spent like two years devoting every available moment to meticulously researching how YouTube's algorithm worked, then internalized it where now he is pretty much if video algorithm became a person. Kind of sad honestly.

also MrBeast and his friends are the most Ohio ass looking people I have ever seen. Genuinely shocked when i found out they were from Kansas.

 

Signed up for a trial of AsianCrush so I could watch River (spiritual sequel to Beyond The Infinite Two Minutes, it rules). Anyone know if there’s anything else that’s good on there?

 

Mr Beast paid for a bunch of operations to give people their sight back and also helped dig new water wells or something in remote areas of the world

Which sounds like good things but in actuality it just shows how fucked up the health care system is and how foreign governments don't even take care of their own and Mr. Beast gets tons of good PR and tons of money off of these projects.

I'm definitely glad people are getting helped, but everything seems so cold and calculated.

 

He also didn't hesitate to back up one of his best friends (who also appears on his channel) when she came out as trans after some of his fans freaked out over it. I'll give him props for that.
