Update: the person next to me plugged in our seat and we all had a great time. “Mean Girls” is surprisingly not bad and our crowd was totally into it.

Here’s the thing: It does itself a lot of favors basically making Janis and Damien the leads. Auli’i Cravalho owns every scene. Everyone else is fair to good.

You’re gonna hear the same jokes you’ve heard a million times. The lighting is weirdly dark and unflattering and makes everything look cheap. The songs are forgettable, but bubbly. It has good energy to it, enough that the flaws are just kind of forgivable. I had a good time and part of it was the crowd and the other was Cravalho.

I think Fathom is showing it later this year.

I can see people not being jazzed on it. But I’m telling you - Janis and Damian make it mostly worth it.

Looks like a scene from the first season of The OA is making its rounds on social media. Once again reminding me of its brilliance and how we lost it too soon. Of course people who see it out of context will think it’s goofy as hell, because it’s meant to be that way. At the very least, I hope it intrigues people and introduces them to the show. The end of both seasons are up there with some of the most ambitious television sequences I’ve ever seen.

 

Dumb Netflix cancelling the good shit.

 

Still haven’t seen Murder at the End of the World but I heard it’s not nearly as compelling. I’ll still eventually check it out though.

maybe i’ll rewatch The OA soon. It’s been long enough.

 

Yeah I'm like halfway through it and don't really feel compelled to continue. I'll finish it but it's definitely disappointing in comparison.
