Really wish Phoebe Waller-Bridge was still playing opposite of Donald Glover in that show. I’m sure Maya Erskine is good too but I’m not really familiar with her and I love Phoebe.

The original Mr. & Mrs. Smith was fine for what it was. Nothing special but a great 'if its on tv I'll watch it' kind of movie. I can see this new one being a better take on the premise especially in a show format. The movie felt kinda rushed in the backstory department from what I remember, haven't seen it in years to be fair.

Donald improves pretty much anything he is in too, so I'm just glad we're getting more of him. I have faith they'll make a good show out of it.

I mean, he did good. But improving doesn’t mean saving the movie.

I feel like this is probably one of those things where Donald had an idea but execs wouldn't greenlight it unless he tweaked it to fit an existing property

Ehh I don’t know I feel like he can make whatever he wants at this point.

  14. Maybe instead of making whatever he wants he just wanted to be just an actor for just a bit

I'm so glad they went with Maya over Phoebe. Both are great, but I think this combo just makes sense.

I mean they didn’t exactly go with Maya. Phoebe had creative differences with Donald and bailed. They were forced to replace her

Like I knew it was happening, but opening up Netflix today and seeing Band Of Brothers and The Pacific on there is so goddamn weird. At least a whole new audience gets to discover them for the first time now.

Planning on starting my 4th or 5th rewatch of that this week for BoB. Watched The Pacific twice. Will be weird when HBO eventually makes one about AFG/Iraq in the same vein.

Yeah, but as a replacement they went with her. They could have gone with anyone else.

I mean it isn't really that similar in tone to BoB/Pacific and more like "The Wire goes to war", but have you seen Generation Kill? Probably the closest thing to a BoB of the war on terror era.

I haven’t watched BOB in a long time. May need to fix that soon.

I have seen Generation Kill, maybe like 15 years ago or whenever it just came out. Feel like a better version of that could be made today, especially a Marine based one with Fallujah.

Band of Brothers is my favorite series of all time. Oddly enough, I've never watched The Pacific but just started it yesterday

My dad literally called me and was like "Have you ever heard of this Band of Brothers show? We watched the first episode and it's pretty good."

There has been a limited series about the Battle of Hue City in Vietnam (same battle as the 2nd half of Full Metal Jacket) based on the Mark Bowden book in development at FX for like over a decade. It was going to be directed by Michael Mann as of 2017, but there hasn't been an update on it in years.

Also David Simon has a limited series based on the American leftist volunteers of the Lincoln Battalion in the Spanish Civil War planned, but who knows of that will ever end up happenng.
