Duke, Illinois and Michigan would have been an unreal string to pull off. As would 7 championship games without a loss. Proud of em
Won 3rd place in my pool even though I had Duke winning against Michigan. Absolute bummer to sit here with the thought of Duke already beating this team this year haha.
totally on board with the players getting paid, etc but the transfer portal has killed the interest for me overall in this sport, I'm not gonna lie.
Yea, I am also happy the players are getting paid and it’s also good that they have the freedom to move around, but it has made it hard to really get invested in teams. I have absolutely no idea how to solve it unless you implement some kind of team contracts. March Madness is still my favorite tournament in all of sports though.
I also think the NBA requirement for players not being able to enter the draft immediately has had a negative effect on college basketball. Yes, you get to see some of these guys in college when you otherwise might not, but it further serves to make every season feel like a big reset across the board.
They might have to do something similar to baseball where you can enter the draft after high school or have to wait until after Jr year to enter. Even requiring just 2 years of college would be better
Yeah I think it’s a little risky if they have another early exit next year but I’m sure they offered him a ton of money. I assumed he was going to do what Chinyelu did and declare but maintain eligibility. I guess I get it though because next year’s class is not as good and he’s betting on himself.
Based on last year’s salary table, so less than what it will be for this year’s draft, he was slotted for 23.5 guaranteed and 5m the first year if he got taken last in the lottery, which is what was projected. They gotta be paying him, what, like $8m minimum to come back? This year’s draft class is really good so maybe next year’s is a stinker and that plays in his favor a bit but if next year’s class is good he probably won’t move up that much. He’ll be almost 24 at the time of the draft. Basically makes the situation where he has to win a natty this year or it was a bad decision
Idk what these guys even make in NIL, I see some ridiculous numbers thrown around online that seem unbelievable. I heard Dybantsa was asking for like 7 mil when UConn was interested, idk if that's what these top guys get. Kinda crazy if so. Big East schools get nothing compared to the bigger conferences though
