Well that is disappointing to say the least. Always next year to get that first win in the Phog. At least it wasn't March???
Seton Hall doing big things to make sure they're in the tournament. Big win over #20 Creighton tonight. Khadeen Carrington had 41 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and Angel Delgado had 17 points and 17 rebounds.
fuck UConn they ditched the Big East a few years back, I wouldn't bring them back now that they are stuck in a subpar league
When other teams started abandoning ship, the Catholic 7 LEFT the league and took the Big East name with them despite leaving behind the far and away most accomplished member of the league. How on earth are you remembering UConn as ditching them?
Youre actually correct and I apologize, I got them mixed up with Cuse and Pitt as I thought they were part of that exodus
Remember when we almost had TCU, Boise State and Marshall instead of Creighton, Butler and Xavier lol
UConn and Cincinnati were collateral damage in the realignment. They both wanted to stay but knew that football dictated things too much and were kinda forced to do their own thing. South Florida to an extent too. The real bullies were Pitt, Syracuse and Louisville.
im okay with UCONN but i dont want to go overboard. I like our conference the way it is right now so much.
Well when the core of your class is Rodney Purvis and Amida Brimah you're gonna have a bad time. Two of the most inconsistent players ever. The three players they lost to injury were gonna be counted on a lot this year. Recruiting class for next season is number 20. Not like they're done. I have my questions about Ollie though
I've never even cared about the football team. I think they thought they could pull a Calhoun/Auriemma with the football, college football would never allow for that.
There's something weird about how inconsistent and undisciplined they are, kind of like NC state. It seems like every year since they won the tourney it's been getting worse and worse and that's really bad. Recruiting classes matter but they aren't Kentucky and it feels like they think they could get away from being just as careless as them.
So many times the last three years they are absolute garbage in the first half. I'm still giving the benefit of the doubt that this team just didn't come together. Calhoun had a couple seasons where the parts just didn't work. They thought too much of Purvis and thought Brimah would grow like Okafor. I'll admit I've had my pessimistic moments this season of "well we had a good run" though haha.
I feel like Calhouns probably pissed he won the title the year he decided he wanted to come back LOL their scouting must be really bad if they predict things like that, they need to revamp there if that's the case. You can't be recruiting players that are highly rated but look poorly in terms of development.
I just remember when Purvis sat out his transfer year Ollie was always like it's like having a ferrari in the garage ugh haha. Idk I remain optimistic. UConn was always mostly about guards until they had that stretch of ten years or whatever leading the country in blocks, but they've done very poorly on big guys since Calhoun left.
