Buffalo has played rough the whole Mac tournament but I don't think people should sleep on them in their brackets.
Always interesting how commentators are consistently quiet when players make Zion-esque plays that they would have exploded over if Zion had made them. That block earlier was nasssssssty.
Haven't watched them much this year, but super stoked for Coach Hopkins and what he's done thus far with the Washington program.
If being an east coast liberal elite means never having to listen to Bill Walton commentate college basketball games, I'll wear that label like a badge of honor.
1 seed or 2 seed...when it comes to gonzaga it doesn't really matter. They're going to be a high seed in the west. come onnnn Belmont.
I saw Lunardi respond to a tweet saying the committee is giving Tennessee the 2 in the south over the 1 in the west (Gonzaga) as it would be an equal seeding based on “home court” advantage. Which, cool, but why even have conference tournaments if you don’t reward winning a conference* over losing in a semifinal. It’s like the CFB playoff but with the ACC instead of SEC, ironically, this time. *tbd tip off at 1 obviously and Auburn is our bogeyman
Truthfully I don't think Belmont has any shot of making it. I think they belong personally but with the way the major tourneys went and some of the top second tier tourneys like the A10, Belmont got screwed.
The more I look at it, today seems pretty boring based on other selection Sundays. As far as I can tell there's no bid stealers left in play. Every game today is either for a single AQ slot (A10, Sun Belt, Ivy League) or seeding (SEC, AAC, Big Ten). I probably won't even watch anything today, maybe A10 since Bonaventure is a local school, but meh.
Yeah that's the issue with these tournaments is that once you get to today ... it doesnt really matter. But I'm also the kind of guy that doesn't really get amped for duke/unc so I'm not the one to ask. I think these major conferences should all end on Saturday and let Sunday be waiting day.
Sometimes Sunday can he fun because you can have a bid thief in play or something like that. Like today would be more fun if say, Nebraska had gone on a wild run in the Big Ten and they were in with a win but out with a loss. It just feels like everything is very solidified right now, like some teams might slide up and down a bit but 65 spots are set and the last 3 go to the Ivy League, A10 and Sun Belt winners Maybe they surprise us all and let Belmont dance, but the committee definitely seems more apt to put mediocre 18-11 major conference teams like Arizona State, TCU, Ohio State, etc in over a 26-5 mid major that had the misfortune of playing in a conference with a soon to be top 5 NBA pick
