Debut album. RIYL The National, LCD Soundsystem, Depeche Mode, the 80s but make it contemporary indie rock. 01 “Tournament” 02 “Rush & Fever” 03 “September Again” 04 “On Division St.” 05 “Indignities” 06 “Automobile” 07 “Friend Machine” 08 “Sacred Tongue” 09 “The Motorist” 10 “The Wall & I”
The vocal delivery is almost too similar to The National at times, but musically this is really great.
I don't think I've heard another band with a vocalist that sounds this similar to Matt - right down to everything from tone to melodies - but the music is so different from anything The National has made that I actually think him sounding nearly identical creates something fascinating. An alternate reality version of The National that will never exist lol. I also think of this seemingly forgotten classic from 2015 every time I throw this record on.
Been meaning to make a thread for this, glad someone else did. This record is easily a top five of the year for me, just nonstop bangers for fans of New Order. It’s like the greatest hits record for a lost band.
Just discovered this. I guess it's pretty derivative but I'm really enjoying it. The Wall & I is a delightful closer.
Well hot damn I JUST got into the Static Jacks and saw this on PASTE’s Year/end list Listening first thing in the morning
Yeah I've noticed this on a couple of lists. It grows on me every listen. Really like it. Indignities is so fucking good.
