This article has been imported from chorus.fm for discussion. All of the forum rules still apply. Name Taken have shared a demo from 2007 on streaming platforms. The band shared this about the song: Well, we aren’t here often. But when we are, we try to bring good news. At our “reunion” show in 2007 we played some songs we had written after Hold On. Also in 2007, we recorded some demos at our house on a bad laptop with literally no idea what we were doing. Hence the relatively poor quality. We pretty much forgot their existence with time. Recently Chad and Ryan (this is Blake) reminded me how much we enjoyed one particular song, “Nanking”. We all listened to it again and agreed that even though the sound is pretty darn rough unless you’re listening on nice headphones or speakers, let’s just let you all enjoy it (or not). So, you can now enjoy ”Nanking 2007 Home Demo” on Spotify and pretty much every other platform. Enjoy! (Or don’t, who cares) more Not all embedded content is displayed here. It would be amazing if they put The Silent Game on their Spotify! YouTube has fulfilled the need for years and will probably have to continue to do so I’m assuming :(
Name Taken our Orange County heroes. My friends and I are still always spinning Hold On and rocking out to Magnolia any time we get the opportunity to get together. I will be forever bitter we never got a sophomore release from them.
I was so young when they were a band I think I was 16 when they had the reunion shows and I missed it because I got sick but my friend snagged me a shirt. My sister was friends with them so their music was a constant in our house. Always waiting for a Chain show announcement
" enjoy it, or don't, who cares. "more bands need to take this tone when writing up something about a new release.
Not that many bands release free demos after they're already in the coffin haha, that's probably quite calculated to try and seem like they're not making a big deal out of it (not that it's any bad). On the other hand, can't believe "Blood and Bones" is alredy 4 years old. Really loved that song and had some hopes for an EP or something.
for the last few days, i've been re-listening to a lot of the old early 2000s punk/emo/myspace/purevolume/etc stuff, and Name Taken has come on a few times. still so good!
"Hit shuffle and enjoy saying 'oh shit! I forgot about this band!' over and over" is the best description for a playlist ever
This is a band that would get me to buy tickets to one of these giant reunion festivals. Hold On is SO good and I only discovered it after they had already called it quits.
Hold On is lightning in a bottle. One of those debut LP’s that probably could never have been topped by a follow up, and Name Taken is one of my biggest what if’s in music to this day. I think it’s kinda awesome they were like yeah this is fun, but I think I’m just gonna go get an education instead. Bye.
That song didn't do much for me but any excuse to go back to Hold On. "We Give Up Sometimes" is still arguably my favorite.
My kingdom for one reunion show at the Chain. I didn't listen to Name Taken until after they broke up (and after the 07 reunion), and I'd love to hear all of the bangers on Hold On played live once.
