It's kinda weird that they did the exact same gag as in Always Sunny when the lawyer reads Dennis and Dee's mom's will
enjoyed the first ep back a lot. really good at catching you up on everyone quickly in that opening scene. David getting increasingly exasperated reading the letter was a great bit in a surprisingly touching scene. second one was not quite as good but still good I've forgotten a bit of s2, Brad took the fall for Jo right? he wasn't actually guilty? feel like that's gonna be important later on
just watched 3 and 4. first one was excellent, getting David trapped in Grimpop was absolutely inspired. Sue is always the best when she shows up too. "I've got an NFT for ya, no fuckin thanks" second one was wheel spinning a bit but still a lot of fun. next week should be masterpiece if previous seasons are any indication
decent last episode, but the NFT/metaverse shit is really starting to grate. bummer that Rob is big into that dumb shit
I think Hornsby has been absolutely carrying it, but Charlotte was fantastic in that "nobody celebrates mechanics" scene. I really hope this season has a DQD level banger in the tank though because I'm not super invested in any of these storylines yet
There's a good chance it's next week since Katie McElhenney is writing it (and she wrote DQD and the personality test episode in season 2).
This episode was a step up and was pretty cute, but this show is so strange this season. Tonally, everything is very superficial. We’re not getting anywhere near the characters and their motivations. Everyone feels very two-dimensional compared to the prior two seasons which had a lot of heart. At least next week’s episode looks like it will be interesting based on the description.
We're getting a spin-off, folks! https://deadline.com/2022/12/apple-tv-orders-mythic-quest-companion-series-mere-mortals-1235200235/
also yeah the Christmas episode was sweet. probably my favourite of the season just because it was a nice break from every character being awful to one another all episode, that being said this season still feels so anemic
shit, man. what an episode. they continue to knock it out of the park every time with these. so much good stuff: - the kid playing Poppy was absolutely amazing, they're a natural. really reminded me what was great about the character to begin with (which this season uhh hasn't really). "eat shit, Tracy" was so good - kid who played Ian was great too, I swear he looked so much more like a young Glenn Howerton than Rob which took me out of it lmao - really beautiful and sad stuff in both storylines. I teared up at the start just from them playing Don't Dream It's Over lmao and it kept goin from there - loved the shot of the game reflecting in Poppy's eyes the same way it did for CW in Backstory! got chills honestly - also as a Clone Wars fan, Sam Witwer as Ian's dad was a pretty wild cameo but so good my only complaint is I feel like this makes the rest of the season feel even weaker lmao, as opposed to DQD which really lifted up the whole of s1. weird that these flashback relationships were better written than their current day ones
I don’t love the flashback episode as much as others (prefer to see the main cast fucking around) but yeah, the kid who played Poppy nailed it
super surprised that the kid who played Poppy is actually American, I literally never would've guessed even more impressed now. might be the first time in history an American actor doing an Australian accent hasn't colossally sucked shit
Solid ep. Not yup there with DQD or Backstory! (which is maybe my favorite episode of the series) in my opinion. Probably the best ep of the season so far tho!
I've been pretty bummed at this season, feels like a pretty big quality dropoff to me. I think a lot of that is because of how separated the characters have been from each other instead of all being together like before
